If $264.99 fell out of the sky, I would buy this in the next second. I WANT THIS SO BADLY.

The shitty thing about Amazon is that they are charging tax in a lot of states now :(.

I'm not familiar with that specific model but if you don't already have dual monitors I would probably do it. More convenience factor and you'll get another 2 inches ;). I am curious if it will be possible to notice the difference the extra 24Hz gives.

I'd love to upgrade to one, but honestly my ASUS VG236H 120Hz has been great, and the CCFL backlight seems fairly natural. If I were a first time buyer, I'd probably purchase this one given my good experiences with the older model.

Thank you, Odissius, for this post.

I printed out the Newegg page and took it down to Microcenter, where they matched the price (down from $299).

I've been playing with it for a couple of hours now, and so far I really like it. My old monitor is an Asus VH236H @ 60Hz, so this feels like a pretty significant upgrade.

I main solly, and it helps a ton. Hell man, even as medic it helps. Every class benefits from 120Hz.

It is so worth it dude, trust me. For $265 that is an AMAZING deal. I paid $380 for my 120hz BenQ several months ago.

Considering it's the equivalent of $430 dollars on the uk amazon, that's a really good deal.

I got this literally 2 days ago haha.

I went from being mid-low open on scout to being able to play comfortably with mid IM players.

On soldier the biggest difference was kind of strange: I feel like my shots are a tad more consistent, yet the shots i do miss i genuinely think i missed. I found with the 60hz I would feel like I should be hitting a lot more shots than I did, but the 144hz revealed that I was actually missing.

Since buying the monitor and playing a bunch of pugs/mge/dm/etc, I feel like it has really allowed me to improve at a much faster rate than I was able to with the 60hz; thinking I hit a shot and then missing it really hurt my ability to improve.

Especially at this pricepoint, you really should get this monitor. Within a few days I became quite significantly better. Be sure your graphics card can handle the 144 hz at a non-shitty res though. I know some people cant run their monitor at a good res and hz at the same time.

TL;DR Made me a lot better really quickly. Would reccomend. 9/10 colors are kinda shitty out of the box but you can fix easily and you get used to the lightboost.

Tagg, take a look at this: http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/6897-whos-running-asus-vg248qe-144hz#post-104192

Lightboost is supposed to only be used in 3D mode, but it was able to be hacked to be allowed to run all the time, but only on Nvidia cards. Now, however, you can use an AMD/ATI card, but you still need an Nvidia to turn on Lightboost. Honestly, I'm sold at this point, especially since I know personally what high refresh rates are like. Going to buy one of these in the next few days.

Also of note: Lightboost apparently only works with 120 Hz, not 144 Hz. I wouldn't think it matters much anyway.

Edit: I do have an AMD card by the way. I also should have a 9600 GT somewhere around I can use to turn Lightboost on.

TaggerungI'm confused about this lightboost stuff
Is this monitor worth getting with an ATI card?

Here's some info on lightboost:

http://www.esreality.com/post/2395123/lightboost-faq-crt-quality-on-120hz-lcd/

Basically removes motion blur but may increase input lag slightly I think (different on each monitor).

Just like any 120+hz monitor, it's worth getting, especially at this price. The lightboost is just an optional thing if you have a supported monitor and an nvidia card.

Feels batman. I am looking for 3 new monitors right now and I was thinking about upgrading to 120hz. Although I was seriously doubting the use of 120hz as well as <5ms input considering that even in lan you have a ping of 5+.
Anyone care to convince me to buy even more expensive stuff?

just buy a benq 2411t if you're in europe, the shipping would be from uk and would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying from that site.

Why buy three? 120 hz monitors are generally lower picture quality than something like an IPS. There's no real point in having a 120 hz panel unless it's for gaming use.

had mine a few weeks... going from 60hz, DEFINITELY worth it. It's been a massive difference in visual clarity during motion, much easier to track everything (non lightboost). Going from 120hz to 144hz? Not likely worth the $$$ if you already have 120hz. This is a lightboost capable monitor- Going from 120hz non lightboost to 120hz lightboost? possibly worth it if you have an nvidia card, based on what I've heard...but probably still not the best use of money if you already have a 120hz monitor.

I don't see why a 120hz should be of lower imagie quality thatn a 60hz, except of course if it is equally priced, which none I found is.

I want 3 because I am going to use them together for playing as well as other purposes. And to have my games neatly going over all 3 monitors, I want them to be identical. I also heard that nvidia surround is picky about monitors so I opt for them all to be equal. Especially considering that two of the three would be of a different hz rate than the center one. I don't think that would work out well.

I'm assuming you have some kind of retardedly beast mode rig to run 3 monitors at 5760x1080 @ 120Hz? I just don't see how that's going to be possible while running at good graphic's settings.

I'm about to get a 690 for multi-monitor purposes. (Don't judge me; I am selling my last PC and have all the monies just for this upgrade)
Also I use Chris' config for tf2 anyway because I like the clutter-free look. Not the ultra-shit quality one of course. I should be able to cap at 120 with ease.

Btw, has any of you ever tried tf2 in 5760x1080? What is going to happen to my HUD?

Fair enough, I believe your hud will stay on your main monitor - assuming you're at least not using the default hud.
