Every time I hit my PTT key, TF2 gets some incredible lag and freezes up. I can hear others just fine but as soon as I try to talk I freeze up. It just started happening today. Anyone have any experience with this or know how to fix it?
Also, it's just mumble. Ventrilo works fine.

Is your PTT key bound to something in TF2? It might be something like taking a screenshot which would explain freezing for some time.

Yes try this, I had this problem before as well. Is your PTT key the same in Mumble as it is in Vent?

Nope. As far as I know, my I key in tf2 isn't bound to anything but I'l try rebinding my mumble key and post results.

Set mumble priority in task manager to low. Use prio to save your priority.

I was playing around with the QOS settings on my router once and had the exact same behaviour happen. The mumble voice data had a much higher priority than the game data, so it made the game go nuts while I talked.
Maybe see if that's the case here.

Changing the key didn't help. I changed my config today from highframes to dx9frames, could that be the problem?

Try using highframes again and see if the problem goes away.
Also, I'm just going to put this here.

Ok, I guess I'm going back to highframes because the priority thing didn't help.

I got something similar, except it only lagged when other people talked. Try installing the latest beta version of mumble, I haven't had the issue since.
