I'd definitely go for the Asus, Oblivionage. This is the cheapest you can find it:

First question, I do have a 75hz monitor, but it's 1280x1024 so I know I'm seeing less, is it worth it giving it a shot? Also, how do I transfer TF2 from my main monitor (1366x768) to that if I'm using borderless? Is it (and 120hzs too I suppose) as useful for soldier and demoman?

Side question, I never actually learned this, but what's the shortcut for removing that thing where when you're typing and it deletes & replaces characters that are ahead? god how do i english

I'd say it's probably more useful for soldier than demoman as it definitely helps tracking scouts. For me the reduced motion blur, smooth motion and a lot less visual tearing has made it a lot easier to track people when I'm jumping them.

I have the chance of a viewsonic vx2268wm but have read it doesn't support lightboost on here. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this one? I'm not too fussed about the resolution only being 1680 x 1050 as that's my current resolution. It's £200 and I basically just want to know if it's worth it.

Been using the BenQ XL2420T for about a week now and god damn I love this thing. I highly recommend it if you have the money to dish out for it

OK, I finally was able to try a 100 Hz CRT.

It's amazing. Everything is just smoother. I'm going to be using this for a while.

Sadly, the thing is just so large! The monitor is as far back as it can go and it's pretty much in my face. Also, I have to use 800x600 if I want to use 100 Hz. I guess out of game I could use 85...

Edit: If you have the money, buy a LCD 120 Hz monitor.

bought a CRT for $15 off craigslist while my 120hz viewsonic wasn't working correctly. The CRT stopped working after 4 days.

EDIT: I DID try the spyder profile from that guy over at ESEA forums btw. I don't know what that person did with his spyder but that profile is horrible imo. Strong red hue, white absolutely not neutral, contrast reduced. Something must've gone wrong there or maybe ASUS changed the default calibration on newer models? I've photoshopped and edited quite a few years so I can tell white-ish white from red-ish white pretty well and the default profile looks absolutely superior to me. I have no spyder right now myself, but I should get a new one pretty soon. If so, I will post calibration data here foe everyone using the ASUS.

In fact, the ESEA profile is so horridly noticeable, I could wip out my EOS and take pictures of it, if anyone cared. It would be noticeable.

So I'm really considering getting this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=917361&is=REG&A=details&Q=

Am I losing out on something that is more expensive, like the BenQ XL2420T? Not sure if this is something I should go all-out on or not.

Best bang for your buck right there, also comes at 144hz instead of the usual 120hz from BenQ monitors

I accidentally deleted my post above and replaced it by a quote with parts from it.
Quick summary of my thoughts on the asus:
-144hz smooth as asscheeks
-alleged color problems not visible at all
-most neutral colors out of the box I had with any monitor in a long time
-the spyder profile from the dude at ESEA forums are horrible, idk what went wrong. Maybe US panels are calibrated differently?
-Once I get my colorimeter I will post results
-Here in Germany it is about the same prize as the BenQ, you can get it for cheap so I would definately go for it

Let me know what you think of the color calibration out of the box. I would be interested to see if there's actually a difference between US-shipped and Euro-shipped panels or bewteeen individual models.

For anyone who has problems with the color management on the asus, I MIGHT have my colorimeter in about a week and will post profiles here then. It's like 180€ though, so no promises just now.

Well according to what it is saying on that site it is 120hz, wtf. Gonna do some more research....

Edit número dos: googling the name of the monitor, it is not 120 hz and that website is a liar, it's like many "higher end" IPS panels in that it can go to 75hz on low res, but it is just a normal IPS

Proof:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005240

It is 120Hz, but since it's a IPS it has 5ms delay rather than 1 or 2ms delay.

For some reason the ASUS VG248QE is much more expensive in european sellers than US ones, and when I try have a look at getting it shipped internationally it says it will cost $100+ to send it from the US to Britain(wat) Does anyone in Europe have a place I can get this monitor for <£190 (~220 euros) or if not then can anyone recommend a 120Hz monitor I can buy for that much.

I think the BenQ XL2411T is a lot cheaper in europe and is effectively the same panel.

Went for a used viewsonic. I like it. Kind of an awkward res and fast becoming out of date in terms of 120 hz monitors, but it still works well. Haven't run into any problems yet; I've had it for about a month now.

I'm in need of a new monitor, however I already have a vx2268wm. My options are either upgrading to a better 120hz monitor with a proper resolution etc, or buying a decent 60hz monitor. However since it'd only be like an extra 100 euros I can't really decide. What are good lightboost monitors atm? Should I go for the BenQ or the 144hz ones? Haven't really kept up to the whole 120hz lcd shenanigans since the first ones came out. I'm sure this has been answered in the thread, but all the posts are a few months old now.

TL:DR recommend me a 120hz monitor with lightboost

I have the Asus VG248QE, and it's great. It seems to be more expensive in Europe though.

The BenQ XL2411T has the same panel and it's cheaper over there. It's not available at all over here, it's Europe-only.

Yeah the XL2411T is like 60 euros cheaper than the asus one for me, so I'll probably go for that assuming there aren't any flaws with it. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with it? Preferably someone who can compare the two.
