I just started up TF2 and a friend messaged me and said that we was getting better frames or something in an empty server, so I went through the whole benchmark demo from that thread from a while ago and have like 20-30 more frames. Did anyone else notice this?
Current FPS:
2639 frames 24.084 seconds 109.58 fps ( 9.13 ms/f) 6.835 fps variability
From the time of the benchmark test:
2639 frames 31.050 seconds 84.99 fps (11.77 ms/f) 5.462 fps variability
Specs:
FX-4100 @ 4.6GHz
GTX 560ti
16GB RAM @1866MHz
Both tests were done with Chris' maxfps with shadows off, ragdolls/gibs off, in dx8.

well yeah

well yeah
He said he checked it on the benchmark demo, not the empty server (which you can confirm by the fact it's 2639 frames for both fps logs).

You misread the rest of his post, he also ran benchmarks.
Before or after Steam Pipe? I got some very nice frame rate stability and increase after it (seems like I got incredibly lucky and avoided all the problems people had).

I actually got a lower stable framerate after SteamPipe. The earlier benchmark I provided was from after steampipe as well.

Our computers are almost exactly the same spec-wise. personally I've noticed a slight drop since steampipe, but not enough to complain.

for me, players have a greater affect on fps than anything else.

Was it the same spot on the map where you did both specs?

just throwing that out there since the thread is related to fps...

My avg fps hasn't changed, maybe you had a process hogging cpu when you ran the original benchmark?

I had made a point of trying to optimize my game as much as possible at the time, which included closing out all background programs, setting affinities, etc. I didn't do most of that this time, so it should have been worse.

I'm not getting any performance boost. Still the same as always, tried the benchmark
