Pub clan forming a 6s team probably after seeing the reptile frag vid, and being super stoked on the game. MiSFits. Don't think anyone else from the team even pugs or lobbies anymore.
Saw the MMM frag vid and started playing tf2lobby.
First time seeing comp tf2 was watching blight own vs blight fanom on pwnage.tv for a couple of minutes. After I got good in pubs i tried tf2lobby after finding out about it.
Mostly like Shwan and milehigh IIRC is how I got into 6s.
i actually just decided to play comp tf2 back in 08, no idea why, did some looking around and found gotfrag, been a loser ever since
The old community I used to be a frequent player in (nom-nom-nom.us) had 6s scrims every weekend and I took part in them, eventually branching off to the "Nom Lobbies" that some players would host that also took part in every weekend.
Once that died I started looking for a team as demo while playing lobbies (I was maining demo because my ETF2L highlander team needed a demo and I thought it was fun) and tried out for Chemical Reaction. Mangachu got my spot instead (we've known each other for a long time) and beat me in the tryout scrims by 1 kill.
I instantly changed my main knowing ill be shit forever if mangachu could beat me onto a team (<3) and started looking at scout. Beat up reimu in a lobby a month or two later and he picked me up for a team which lead me into comp (RIP heretics).
My first league team was unRestricted

insecure drive to perform better than people who were better than me at TF2 who happened to be shittalking comp tryhards
i got mad decent at sniper, found out about ugc from a friend, played 2 seasons of highlander and that's it. haven't been able to find a team for 6v6 that isn't shitty and/or falls apart after 3 scrims

I came from the Ubercharged.net community and I played silly willy tf2 for the longest time. Then one day I get a message from a friend to play in some match. It for a Lanified Koth 3v3 game, back when they still did Thursday matches regularly. And from there I wanted to play tf2 competitively.
I started when a friend told me to play lobbies with him, after a hundred lobbies I made a team which was absolute shit, then I changed up the roster and now we're doing UGC steel.
Started playing Tf2 when it first came out. Mained sniper. Was a regular on Nemus Stomping/Proving Grounds' servers until summer of 2008 when some of my friends wanted to try comp. I saw reptiles frag video and I wanted to as well but my pc died and didnt get a new one for another 5 months. I came back with a new pc but just decided to pub. Rewatched reptiles frag video which inspired me to get better at soldier. Played on HL2.net's 24/7 granary server practically everyday and seen a lot of comp players there. In August of 2009 my friend sNoB asked me to play in a highlander with some of the Axl's tf2 regulars. After that I started playing in his little 6v6 pug group. That led me to CP Pugs and joined my first team, Cascade. TWL Div 4, yeeeee
Played alot of tf2, eventually got good for pub standards. Then met Volt on the Drunken Brawl, and talked to him about comp tf2. Rang for his team once (did horribly.) wanting to improve i looked for info about comp tf2 and found the ubercharged.net guide. Read the entire thing and from there started a cevo team with a childhood friend and some people from the drunken brawl.
Was pubbing on goldrush one day, when a bunch of guys wearing tags came in and started rolling. Saw someone ask what div they were, which was responded to with a link to their website (one of THOSE teams). I decided to go check it out, saw a "Recruitment" section, applied, ended up playing backup med for them. Realised that they had pretty much an entire team of backups who were keen to play and were on regularly, so decided to make a second team out of them. Played for about 9 months, did some ozfortress, and the rest is history.
disengagePlayed on HL2.net's 24/7 granary server practically everyday and seen a lot of comp players there.
holy shit that server
I used to love that server
btw do you remember corpse and The Black Guy, they were the fucking kings of that server

A friend of mine got me into the game, started playing mge with him regularly (never really played pubs :D), played a lot of tf2lobby.com, played my first mixes.
I played nothing but 2fort2furious mario_kart, dustbowl, and 2fort. I was only an average pubber. One day i was browsing the wonderful gamefaqs tf2 forums and saw something about 6v6 and tf2.gather.us. I then connected to tf2.gather.us on irc and played my first pug.
It was on pl_badwater. I played engie lol. I met a guy named xokks that helped me out a bit with my gamesense and DM. A few months later I formed a team with a few IRL friends and tang. We were really bad (except for tang).
Then i moved to hawaii and i wasn't able to play because by the time i got home from school and done with my homework it would be too late to scrim. I quit playing video games for a while.
At the start of the summer i broke my collarbone when i fell off my longboard going 45 miles an hour like a (retarded) badass (douchebag). During that summer I moved to Washington. Because i couldn't really do anything else, i decided to take advantage of my new time zone and not complete shit internet and get back into tf2.

Saw the ETF2L highlander frag video, started playing spy in highlander. Then I discovered soldier and rocket jumping and it was fun. So I looked for a team and my friend Tone-Pot helped me get better at soldier.
Short version:
-Friend tells me to buy TF2, I put it off
-Buy it, fall in love with it, find BRH (Bar Room Heroes), join up with them
-Member says they need a good pyro (I was a noob, pyro's easy shut up) for highlander
-Play highlander for a while, discover 6s
-Still on a HL team, looking for a 6s one
Oh, and:
-Buy friend unusual for birthday because he introduced me to TF2

I played a tf2lobby late one night because someone invited me. I was scared at first, and I don't think I ever really learned anything from lobby. I played some UGC, was the worst time of my life. I wanted to play some competitive TF2 that wasn't lobbying or UGC, so I got on pug.na and learned a lot.
I was mouthing off about how good I was at med in jumpit one day and then hbc asked me to play medic for his team.

Started watching extv around season 5, around the time of the alienware tournament. I loved watching all the tf2 frag vids. Me and my friends started playing highlander and 6s lobbies when ETF2L announced their first highlander tournament.
I played pugs with their etf2l highlander team and joined their ugc team afterward and kept playing 6s lobbies. I played 2 seasons of highlander and then created a 6s team with some friends for esea-o.
Now I'm just a lobby troll.

I started off from UGC Highlander, where it started off with just a group of friends who didn`t really have time to dedicate for legit scrims and such. (Actually some random HL team got Seabass, Roflmaoer, and Ma3laa and we got owned). We wanted to play, but didn`t have people who could dedicate due to jobs and grad school. So, I branched off by playing MGE from a friend. Had no idea what in the world MGE was so I played it, seemed it was fun, and my friend offered me to play UGC steel. I managed to get people (included 2 from my HL roster) and we made our team. Played some Newbie Mixes when Shwan and company ran them during the weekends. Met people such as Billy from Mutiny and other people from ESEA-O and it went from there.
Good times...

i picked up tf2 when i heard there were 9 different classes with weird unique abilities sometime during the early beta and was getting sick of playing 1.6
i played a lot in the LUE/tf2f/[-Q-] dustbowl servers and a lot of my friends in the LUE group asked me to PUG a lot, and i mained sniper. i realized a lot of the people i played with were competitive players like apoc/emperor/pokey/leg and their crew plus some random people like wizard (experiment) and drgeorge (doctors) would always drop by the pubs i'd play in and i'd go into tryhard pubstar mode because i've heard about these guys before. i already went to gotfrag for 1.6, so i always followed comp tf2, especially when people who usually pugged with me were involved in competitive tf2 anyways.
i got asked to play on a team called 2shot and lasted one day because they didn't tell me i was going to be playing medic when the only class i played was sniper. it had dl/dumah/buddha/zambino on it and i got dropped after a single day because i dropped uber at the start of cp_dustbowl (first time playing medic LOL). i ended up just playing as a sniper main in 6v6 for cevo until all of my friends stopped playing and i ended up in tf2gather where people yelled at me until i started playing scout (because i rolled out to middle as sniper on granary, WHICH WORKED BTW). i got onto an IM team and failed really horribly because i didn't understand the importance of cap time and didn't comm at all (plus i think the first day i was on it was when we had a match), and the team ended up disintegrating after a single game and i've been hopping onto friends teams ever since
i guess only the first two paragraphs really related to the topic but i had to keep going for nostalgic purposes

Fucking around in my comp and tech class in high school grade 8 or 9 because that shit was really easy and finished it all in like 15 min. Anyways I was just hopping from wiki to wiki one day and I some how stumbled upon the TF2 wiki (and at this time I didn't even know about valve let alone have a computer that didn't have trouble running runescape, and the only other FPS game I had played up until that point was golden eye on my N64) so I some how stumbled onto the competitive section of the wiki and followed a link to tgbf.tv and started watching the VODs in class and from that moment I was hooked. So the first thing that I did when I got a computer was buy the orange box and play TF2.
Its funny I wanted to play comp TF2 even before I had the game, it was not something that I found later on.
