Giant Drop in FPS

Hey I have been playing in some pugs lately and I noticed a huge drop in my fps. I went from getting 120 constant to barely above 30 while shooting. I already use chris max frames and the issue is still there. I was just wondering if anyone else has been having the same issues or knows any solutions to it.

i have tried this. i did absolutely nothing to my settings then it randomly pooped out on me.

Try extracting a fresh copy of TF2 from your GCFs. Backup your cfg, scripts, resource, and maps folders as well as your demos, then delete your "team fortress 2" folder. As far as I know, you won't have to redownload the game because you already have the GCFs, and it'll just extract a fresh copy. If you still have the fps drops, try -autoconfig in your launch options. And if it STILL persists, you might want to start looking into any issues outside TF2.

i completely removed tf2 earlier today and it didnt do much. I just did the -autoconfig and im not sure what exactly it is supposed to do

did you try restarting your computer? happened to me once, and I freaked out and redownloaded tf2 completely, still had the problem, then I restarted my computer and it was fine :P
