Back when this topic was hot, people were playing pugs and creating item lists and Nerf ideas for the valve team. Was a list ever presented to them? Is there more we are expected to do right now?
i can't say for sure, but it sounds like another one of those "lets do our best to get this scene somewhere. let's start by doing this and that" and then it never happens.

don't know who made it but that should at least give them a starting point. a larger sample size would be good but better than nothing

I very much doubt that Valve has ever seriously looked into these things...
Valve's starting point should be getting in contact with Platinum HL players and balance from the top down instead of getting ban opinions from randoms.
This has all been discussed to death, please don't start it again.
I would be interested in seeing what came out of the pugs though and know if Sal/Extine have actually sent a letter with bugs and suggestions to valve as planned.

This right here is the problem. Everyone thought we were doing this to tell them what weapons need reworks.
All they wanted was for us to experiment with different systems for banning weapons so they could implement a lobby system with picks/bans. Unfortunately, no PUG groups that I'm aware of actually tried realistic systems like one ban per player (the one I played in had like 2-6 bans per team which made no sense to me at all), let alone give feedback to valve.

I read that as >no PUG groups that I'm aware of actually tried realistic systems like [ones I personally like]
Very good point that people were looking for the wrong stuff though.

This is the problem. People thought this was about weapon rebalance. No, thats for Valve to do. We were supposed to figure out a pick/ban system that would work and let valve see what weapons were popular and were banned often so they could get some real-world insight onto what weapons players thought were OP or UP. I think things got muddled because 1. we're not sure how to do it and 2. we're not sure who to report our findings too.
Sal or eXtine, did you guys ever get the proper info to send to valve?
