So I am going to be taking the same exact same flight, same company, same aircraft model in another month, scared shitless atm

From what I heard, the pilot fucked up.
He was too low and hit the runway just as it started. The back half of the plane didn't even get on the landing strip which caused it to break up.

they're also investigating similarities with a 2008 crash of a 777 that happened the same exact way to make sure there's nothing wrong with that aircraft. so it could be anything at this point, but it's probably pilot error.

To be honest, you have a better chance dying in a car crash than a plane crash.

that's due to a number of reasons
the biggest being all it takes to get a driver's license is an iq of at least 85 or so

i heard on the news the pilot came in short, and instead of the the wheel touching the runway, they hit the rocks, causing the plane to crash on the runway and go flat out. This was from a witness
My friend was boarding his plane in the exact same airport when this happened
I wouldn't be too worried about it. It's one crash, that pilot is almost guaranteed to be fired, and they're probably going to start pumping a lot into security, training and maintenance to offset the publicity from this.
RIP people.
RIP people.
Clank security
pretty sure this had nothing to do with security. It was simply a mistake by the pilot.

You really start to wonder why they don't rigorously review every aviation incident to identify mistakes and fix any potential engineering issues. Given how many repeat accidents there are its dumbfounding that no one has spoken up yet.
Oh, wait, they do all of this. When is the last time you heard of the same issue happening on identical models or on identical airlines?
You'll be fine.

Don't worry about it, if someone even breathes the same way twice on an airplane they check whatever similar models they have thoroughly and frequently.
Airplanes are an incredibly safe way of transport.

Just don't travel by space shuttle.

wow I didn't know the bus was so safe
anyway remember that this is the first fatal airplane crash in the U.S. by a commercial flight in ~4 1/2 years if I remember right

Everyone heard about that crazy train derailment in Quebec right? I know that commercial planes crashing is super rare, and it's a big deal, but the train accident was like, really bad.
The weird thing, is that I never heard it on the mainstream news yesterday. I watched a lot of the coverage about the plane crash, but not once was the train incident even mentioned, I don't get it :S

there's about one north american crash per year. this is the one. you are immune for rest of the year.
