I just bought Dark Souls and BL2. BL2 is $10 now, so fuck it might as well. Bought the season pass too. Now I just need to buy a good controller.
Is a wired Xbox controller my best option? I hate the controller, it's too big and costs too much (saw it for 25 on Amazon). If anyone has a better option, let me know.

seems like these new games are ok for a little bit but then they get boring rather quickly, even nowadays some of the most anticipated releases can be a huge let down (see diablo3) it would be nice if a new game came out that would really have a strong following for a while...maybe a new fps? a good rpg...something along the lines of that

25 is pretty much a steal for a wired 360 controller. and not much beats it at what it does.

True. but Darkfall Unholy Wars is a decent game. It's a lot of like UO before UO sucked and died. Bloodline Champions is a good game but its fucking dead.

if that's the case i guess i might as well. i did use a ps3 controller for NBA back when i would play that, so i could try doing that again.

If you don't like the 360 controller's layout, you can pick up a logitech f510. It's dinput and xinput compatible (so it'll work on games expecting xbox controllers and all my japanese doujin games too) and has a dualshock layout with a little more grip in its form factor too, for whatever that's worth.
There's also some really cheap dualshock 2 -> usb converters that make it register as a direct input pad, then you can put that through an xbox controller emulation driver... I did that for a while but the little latency kicked my ass when I tried playing Dark Souls the first time, tried it yesterday with my f310 (older/cheaper model of the f510) and it was great.

I heard Cube World is a good game.

Kerbel Space Program - I should have bought it when it was five dollars when they first announced early release.
That will prolly be my only purchase unless I get more cards to sell and something comes around 3-4 dollars that I like.

Cube World was a lot of fun for the first few days, especially with friends... but there is literally no end-game. The game is still in Alpha, so it won't take long before you get to the point where there is literally nothing left to do.
#33 nailed it spot-on. Most games nowadays are rushed and released completely unfinished (Diablo 3). Nothing comes even remotely close to being as good as Diablo 2 was back in the day :(

In general, the problem with the game industry, is that *most* metrics regarding games show that most people only play 15%ish of the game. That's why you have the opening tutorial and then a really nice part fora bout 20 minutes, and then the game either just fills things out or has little to no ending - or a shit one, because the metrics show that a VERY small portion of the fan base will actually see it - so your rating and legacy will be based entirely on the first several hours of gameplay and that's it - UNLESS the ending is *so* bad that that very small proportion of fans who actually finish get really mad.
This is why games suck and why I'm waiting for more kickstarter games lol.

The STALKER games are amazing single player experiences if you don't mind a few bugs and a total lack of hand holding.

That something is wrong.
It didn't have the same replay value as D2 did for me (haven't played much in awhile), but to call it rushed is just silly.

they may have started developing d3 in 2001 but they scrapped it since vivendi wanted it to be made for consoles.
"On August 1, 2005, Blizzard Entertainment announced the closure of Blizzard North. A key reason for the closure was Blizzard North's poor development of what was to be Diablo III which did not meet the expectations of Vivendi."

Yeah, since you said you want a game that will waste your time forever, Fez would be the game. It will take a while to find all 64 cubes.
