it is 1000x easier to do smoothing with stv demos and more camera control like i said any sort of demo is acceptable i just prefer stv demos

i haven't gotten a single demo pov or stv so please dont hold out on me guys :(

You can't smooth an STV demo. You can fly around with keyboard controls and that's not very precise.

Also #6 every editor likes having an STV because if you smooth a POV, you are the camera, therefore you will not be able to see your own player model in the smooth.

#7 if you bind i j k and l to movement based controls then it is pretty close to a pov smooth, and mustard i want to make it easy for people to submit demos i dont need 2 demos of the same thing ya know what i mean :\?

i think my effort was a bit to late, it seems demos from esea have been deleted and can no longer be downloaded i'll have to try again some other time :(

Any moron who thinks you can properly smooth with an STV needs to never edit a video. Manually smoothing by hand WHILE rendering the video? Good fucking luck.

I have a great idea. How about you take a POV demo and try to actually make a smooth with it other than taking some cheap knock off way out that is going to result worse than a POV no matter how you do it.

#10 i'm sorry you feel that way but it just doesn't look how you think, i want to learn how to smooth pov demos but i need practice, if anything rendering while smoothing makes it really easy to maneuver because its very slow i just wish you would be more open minded and stop being so ego driven, i read your comments on logic's post about cla's new video and you aren't very creative or open to new things at all, and he is 2x the editor either of us could dream of and you still find criticism in his videos...

I don't think you understand. Using an STV to smooth while rendering because it's "slower," makes no sense considering the video will be choppy and will skip frames. Like I said, you're better off actually smoothing an POV demo.

And as for Cla, yes, he is a great editor. Whether he's better than me or not is not up to me, it's up to our viewers. I make simple edits, he likes getting fancy. My reasons for not liking his video that much were solid. All of this is irrelevant to this thread. Do not try to smooth with an STV and expect good results, you'll be disappointed every time.

edit: Oh, and yes, you're right. I do still "find criticism in his videos." Last time I checked, me being an editor doesn't mean I'm still not a viewer like any other person.

edit2: You're also better off not making a "community video." If you're trying to learn stuff, you're better off just making short videos then work your way up. Obviously you're not going to listen because you're stupid, but that's fine by me.

I honestly couldn't care less what he decides to do, but it's frustrating I was trying to help him then he just became way too stubborn for me to not be annoyed.

I've actually gotten nice "smooths" using STVs.

I am not wrong, most smooths cla uses are probably stv and the simple fact is that pan and crop works wonders

if you use stv as a pov video, your frags will seem kinda off due to lag, but i think you already knew that

You'll find the POV smoothing takes more effort but lets you do exactly what you want, whereas your method can be really hard to pull off correctly.

IMO if you want to make a frag video POV is the way to go, if you want to make a story or thematic type of video (like xlr's interactive videos) STV is the way to go. I think you should just try out everything and see what works best for you.

#24 yeah you're right, ideally i would like to make the actual kills in pov form and leave the cinematic type things for stv but i dont think people want to upload so many demos so i was only asking for 1 or the other :)

also i'd like to spend alot of time doing this and make it look good so i'd be in no hurry to make it looks perty xD

I'm more than sure Cla smooths with POVs. You can normally just tell if it's POV or free handed with STV.

Anyway, I'm sorry for being an asshole. Just seriously practice with POV demos until you're satisfied with your ability to smooth with them. The best you can do with an STV is half of what you're capable of doing with POVs.
