I Just want to play some different games aside from tf2 and what not. The new animal crossing looks fun but im just not sure if there are other games on the 3DS that I would enjoy for longer than a few weeks lol. So I am calling for the opinions of Nintendo lovers :)
Edit: Also would it be worth buying a used one to save a bit of money?

Also is it worth it to spend the extra money on the xl? Because I kinda just want to buy the cheaper one lol

DS games are generally good although the 3d stuff hurts my eyes after a while
psp is useful for emulator's and what have you

#4 The screen size on the xl is almost double (in area) over the original 3ds. For only $50 more, I think it is a very worthwhile investment to get the larger screen.

Yes.
Even if you don't like Animal Crossing. There are plenty of RPGs and jRPGs coming to 3DS and already available. Etrian Oddysey/Rune Factory come to mind. Not to mention, Pokemon and Mario and Luigi.

The handheld market is pretty damn big right now.
I'd get a 3DS for Mario and Luigi: Dream Team alone. The M&L RPG games are easily 24 hours of content minimum and are worth more than two playthroughs. People I know loved Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Fire Emblem: Awakening. Fox already mentioned Animal Crossing but I was never really a fan of those games myself. I can't keep track of all the new pokeymans, but X and Y honestly look to be the biggest steps forward since Gold and Silver (or HeartGold&SoulSilver).
I also like the Vita, but that's got a lot more JRPGs than the usual consumer would like
Show Content
plus people here would look at me funny if I said I'd get a Vita for Senran Kagura alone WHOOPS
EDIT:
I would recommend the regular 3DS over the XL purely because of the size unless you're honestly looking for a handheld that feels like a tablet. One of the older kids at the camp I work at has a XL, and I took out my Samsung YP-G70 to compare the size. The YP-G70 is a big-ass minitablet media player, and the XL was easily two of them when open.

i played the heck out of wild world, but i got sick of it within a month lol
i'd highly recommend the XL; a lot of my friends that bought a 3ds at launch ended up getting an XL and said it was a worthwhile investment
the worst thing about it is that i'm carrying it everywhere with me and checking every 5 minutes to see if i got a streetpass notification
also i don't even care for the 3d gimmick, and usually just turn the slider down to off so i can have even more battery time while i'm outside/waiting in lines

Zelda OoT 3D, Kingdom Hearts, the Mario Games, a link to the past 2 should come out within the next months (i think)...there are some really fun games on the 3DS . You should get the xl imo ( i have a xl myself) because its a huge difference for not that much extra money :)
edit: wind waker remake is on wii u ;D

Kinda depends on if you would use it. My grandmother bought me a PSP without me asking for it or needing it and I really never use it. I think I maybe played it about 10 times. The issue with handheld systems is that a lot of people don't have viability to really play it. What I mean by this is take me for example. When I did have to drive to work, can't play then. Work until 6-7ish and come home spend time with wife/animals/house stuff then I would play on the computer and repeat.
Basically, if you don't have periods of time in your day where you're waiting for something in a public place, there isn't a lot of point to owning a handheld system.

Sometimes I just wanna lie down and relax and play a less active type of game like JRPs or something. Can't really do that with a PC.

Also don't think there are any 3DS emulators (joke post?)

Ya the XL is great. I have yet to play a Layton. Borrowed a DS Layton off a friend and am yet to play it, I just have so many games to play atm ;o
Dunno if I would get Monster Hunter. Only time I'd get it is if I had consistent local co-op with a friend(s), since there is no online co-op till Monster Hunter 4 :[

I really want a 3DS just to play the new pokemans, the new Monster Hunter(s) (4 released sometime next year PLEASE CAPCOM), and to play Golden Sun 3 and any of the Phoenix Wrights.
Maybe throw Lunar Knights in there as well.

If you have a PS3 and a PSP you can play MHFU online using a PS3 app called Ad-Hoc Party, or use XLink Kai through your PC
