Noona is on vacation, so I'm taking over Newbie Mixes for this weekend. I'm not exactly sure how to make an event (enigma/others help?), so this is as much of an official thread as we have.
Already know the basics of TF2 but eager to sharpen your competitive knowledge? Unsure how to push last, get to mid fast, or manage uber advantages? Come by this Saturday night for Newbie Mixes and learn how to play competitive 6s games with a fine selection of coaches. Get all your questions answered and try out a few 6s games with other newbies and your coach! Read the guide provided below, join the Steam group, and add up in mumble when you're ready to go pro. Already experienced and have at least one season of ESEA experience? Newbie Mixes is always in need of coaches to help keep mixes going!

If you are truly new to the competitive scene, read through all the links of the Steam Group page. We have info on mumble, rollouts, and general tactics. If you have any other questions, add me on Steam and I'll help you with any and all problems.
This event will run from 9PM-12PM EST, 6PM-9PM PST, but we almost always stay afterwards and have fun late into the night.

I think a lot of people who would be happy to help find that they disqualify under the coach requirements.

Hopefully we can continue our streak of having Invite coaches come out to help all those that are new to competitive and willing to learn from the best!
Also, if possible, could we get this moved into an event? Thanks admins :)

Noona, I, and the other admins have been talking about it. We're seeking a compromise at the moment... I'll keep you updated as the discussion continues.

Yes, that is something that is brought up quite a bit, but the thinking is that 1 season of ESEA will give a player enough game sense, to understand general play for every class, not just his/her main. Although, there are some players that have multiple seasons of ESEA, that we don't allow to coach, but this is very rare.

I started out in newbie mixes and I think that quality>quantity. 80% of the newbie mixes did more harm than good because the coaches didnt know what they were talking about. I dont know if people would prefer to wait longer for better coaching or not, but i found it much more useful to play 2 mixes with good coaches instead of 5 with bad ones.

I personally haven't been subject to any 'bad coaches' at all, nor have I heard any negative reviews from my friends.
When you say 'didn't know what they were talking about', do you mean that you disagreed with their input on class roles and strategy? That trying to integrate their advice into your play yielded bad results? Just curious #8.

The thing I find frustrating with coaching newbie mixes is you find a lot of people who just show up to PUG. They don't want tips, directions, help; they just want to shoot some shit. Frustrating for a coach who hopes to help some genuine n00bs and finds that a majority of his squad have a fair amount of UGC experience, and 0 questions. Some even boasting a large K/D ratio.
I don't feel noobiemixes should be a place for players who are semi experienced in competitive 6v6 to just practice something besides their main.
Just ma 2cents

Hey everyone,
Please give Shredder, MrPerfect, and our new admin, Leet the same amount of respect that you guys give me. They are a great group of people and I'm glad to have them aboard the Newbie Mix staff.
Have a good night Newbie Mixing :)

Newbie Mixes were very hit or miss tonight, but I'd like to thank Screwball for being a great coach in my game, and zbryan for showing up to help people with their rollouts during the downtime, along with everyone else that participated.
