ScubaSquidtruktrukThe only way we can play in a different div at the moment is to hijack a dead team in a higher div. I don't think anyone on the team REALLY wants to play in Open. Hopefully ESEA will do something about it.
Edit: Can you sign up for Main? If so I'll talk to WhiskerBiscuit about switching.
Although your team has some experience players on it, i still think offclassing a sniper for your roamer and having a dh pocket shouldn't go far even in open. No offense but, a good team should be able to work together to get over individual play that will come alot more from your team. Open teams shouldn't be worried, if you guys have some gamesense it shouldn't be difficult to beat a team with alot of offclasses.
as long as powah doesn't full time snipe I don't see an issue personally.

Any thoughts on the two (?) Brazilian teams incoming into open? I know some of them have already played in NA ESEA (Sinval most notably), but I'm always curious how these teams turn out.

We will see how we work with the pings :P
But, well, a brazilian team which got third place in the same fast cup we got 2nd and the other team got 1st (the brackets, fw = ss: http://challonge.com/vanillatf2), got 2nd place in CEVO... I don't really know the difference between the skill level in open and in CEVO, but you guys can have some idea about how we will do...

http://play.esea.net/index.php?s=league&d=standings&division_id=2185
Currently 23 rosters in Open.
The big teams to look for are (in my opinion):
- BUDSQUAD (duh)
- all in with allen (NO ALLEN?)
- Canadian Milk Bags (strong DMers, a little bit uncoordinated last time my team scrimmed them http://sizzlingstats.com/stats/62909)
- TF2Jump is retarded (broKing's team, looking incredibly strong)
- The Party Boys (has pretty good potential)
- Network Issues (oh baby)
- Mexibeam Gaming (looks like old Yoshi's Island + stuff)
- Chilling in North Korea (hi)
- Quantum Flux (this team should be high IM AT THE LEAST in all honesty...)
- Stay Offclassy (already doing relatively well, pre-season)
- Mahal Kita (owl's team which has been doing really well pre-season)
All other teams I don't know literally anything about.

Of the teams registered so far, not counting Quantum Flux (who have not scrimmed but will likely be at the top of open if they stay in the division), the wonderfully named TF2Jump is retarded is probably the strongest at this point. Other teams I find interesting are the BUDSQUAD, Canadian Milk Bags, and Network Issues. Teams I'll be following because I know some names and think they'll be playoff contenders are The Party Boys, Mexibeam Gaming, Chillin in NK, Monitor Down, and Stay Offclassy.
I'm sure we'll see a bunch more open teams register before the deadline, and there are a few teams I've scrimmed who aren't registered yet (so I won't pass judgement) but for now those are the teams I'm watching
Mahal Kita to still suck 8(

I don't know them so I can't judge, but in my experience, having practically a carry player (smi|e in this case) GENERALLY doesn't bode well for the team (harOzone being sort of an exception).
Just from a team cohesion standpoint (this isn't specific to Game of Throws, my team scrimmed them only once a long time ago), everyone else needs to step it up in decision making and DM to the carry player. This automatically creates some uncoordination between the carry and the rest of the team. Unless the carry enjoys playing with the rest of the team more than he/she does in winning, there's gonna be disappointment and lack of trust or forgiving. Long story short, my advice for new teams is to even out the skill levels as much as possible (and you will grow very quickly if you stick together for a season), or, of course, play with people you'll have fun (whatever the definition) with.
That said, I looked up the scrims of Game of Throws on ss and it seems that they aren't quite primed for playoffs yet.
