I find pretty much all racing boring to watch. A lot of people watch NASCAR just for the crashes. However, some of the finishes can be pretty intense.

My understanding of NASCAR is limited but:
The racers belong to teams, even though each race can only have one person finish in each position as far as I know. In this case, it appears to conspiracy theorists that this driver, Bowyer, purposely made it seem like he lost control of his car. When a racer loses control, whether there's a crash or not, a Caution begins. During a caution all of the racers slow down to a non-racing speed and remain in the positions that they last crossed a certain point in the lap. The cars continue to circle until the issue is resolved.
When he spun out, intentional or not, he created some circumstance in which his teammate would be able to make it to the Chase (which I guess is like NASCAR playoffs).
This is the part I'm unsure of. I guess the guy who would have won had to pit stop, and then he didn't make it back out onto the track in time, and ultimately lost. Because he lost, Bowyer's teammate was able to make it into the Chase.
