So yeah. TF2 hates me.
No matter the config I use, even when launching via Lawena, TF2 insists on putting AA to off by default. Now, this is perfectly fine when I'm just playing...but when making a frag movie...
So then I simply open advanced video options and just 'manually' set it to max. Upon clicking Apply and OK, the Hardware DX Level drops from the 9.8 I set in my launch options to DX 7.
Yay! So nice clean edges, but bleughness everywhere else :(
I'm totally lost as to why or how this is happening. ikpure tried helping me for like 2 hours with no success (?). Anyone have any idea if/how this can be fixed? Was hoping to enter the TF2 Connexion thingy, but doesn't look too promising at this rate. >_<

I thought source games do not support dx7 anymore.

You can put all the commands you want into a config file, then just open the console and type "exec <name of config you want to load>".
You can also force AA to override the game AA through either the ATI Tray tools, or Nvidia Inspector. Nvidia Inspector even allows for the use of supersampling AA, which is the best AA that you can get. There's also the SweetFX injector that allows for much higher quality FXAA. It works perfectly fine with VAC, but the ESEA client may detect it as a cheat.
