Hello everybody.
I would share my last video with you : Zapping.
I made this for the video editing contest launched by TF2Connexion (French TF2 League) and Roccat.
I tried to create three different atmospheres in this editing, with three different musics. I'm pretty happy with the result, but at the begining of the project i had in head to put a fourth music. Because of a lack of demo, time and motivation I had to keep only three musics.
I got already some feedbacks about to much zooms or pan crops, so I will work on it later.
Here the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNcj0kWrApI
Enjoy !

First thing I noticed is the empty* smooth at the beginning. Oh boy, I'm already getting picky! :P This doesn't matter a whole bunch and no one is going to complain about it, but even though it went from an empty smooth to a non-empty smooth, I feel like it would have looked better had the soldier been in it the entire time.
* - "empty" refers to the smooth having nothing but the map in it. This is more of something that I've had to be told when I first started making videos and I've stuck by trying to keep smooths full one way or another since.
I like the "Zapping by Gero" though, looks nice.
Okay, okay, okay, okay. First thing's first. It's usually best to have a relevant intro. What I'm saying here is that you should have followed the intro up with a Gullywash clip. I'm assuming that smooth was taken from a clip later on? I know it isn't SFM due to the missing control point. It went from the Gullywash intro to a sniper on Badlands frag. I guarantee the smaller things like this end up being beneficial.
I like the theme of this video so far. The zig-zag line (or lightning?) transition effect, though I felt like you could have done more with it. I'm not really sure what because everyone knows I lack creativity. So you can just ignore this. However, when the soldier walking transition comes up, is that the smooth paused or were you standing still then decided to walk? It's hard to tell. Incoming personal preference: I'm not a big fan of stuff that isn't moving, like smooths and such.
I like the syncs. Some were a little off (less than a second each time it was), but that's pretty much fine. Overall, I'm digging them.
I like the edit style with the rap music, but it takes away from what the theme of the video seemed to be given the intro and the effects. Also the sniper clip @ 2:00 was kind of freaky. About 90% of that was nearly identical to something that I did in a pug the other day. ~weird~
Is there actually a freight train on Badlands? It's been so long since I've noticed anything in a map's skybox.
I lol'd @ the last spy clip when he accidentally disguised then accidentally switched to the wrong items a few times.
All right, well yeah, I mean I enjoyed the video. Good job on it, man. Work on a few things, whether you agree with what I said and work on those, or if you work with advice given to someone else.

Dear Enigma, would it be possible in the future for us to have a section of the website dedicated for uploading videos (or embedding)? Something like PLDX. Would be neato~

I read the top part of kirby's post where he's being mean to this video, so I went into this skeptically.
But it was actually really good!

I wasn't being mean. I was giving him criticism, which is what he wants. c:

Bad choice of words. It's great that people like you are so helpful. I never knew things like smooths without people in them were bad. Is there some sort of great compendium of tips for making frag videos?

Not really, though that sounds like a fantastic idea. I have a guide in the TF2 Help section for making frag videos, but that doesn't cover tips and what give you. Thanks for the idea.

I don't know if they are bad persay, but I always just saw them as somewhat lazy. If you are just smoothing around an empty map, it doesn't really add anything to the video and you can't "screw it up". I honestly love smoothing because I can capture a certain moment in game and getting a smooth just right is the most rewarding feeling. There's something new in every demo that you can record that no one else has seen before, while I'm sure everyone has seen badlands spire or granary middle plenty of times.

I thought the train stuff was a little over-the-top but I really enjoyed the editing of the actual frags.

I liked the frowny face by the soldier after the medic surfs away.

I personally wasn't a fan of all of screen movement that went on to draw attention to one part of the screen. I feel like smooths would have done a better job and made it less chaotic (unless chaotic is what you were going for)

Some effects broke the flow (which was a bit inconsistent at times) but overall a very good video, I wanna see more :)
I'm also in favour of a subsection purely for videos.

The slow-mo/zoom in on every frag was a little grating, but otherwise I thought it was pretty cool.

So the slo-mo and the zoom effects were to much. I notice that for further fragmovies ;)
