Agreed, one thing that really drove me nuts about BSG was sometimes space was silent, while other times they would decide that space now allows for sound travel.

A thing to note that makes the movie seem much more polished and realistic is that the main character is not an astronaut but a mission specialist. Most of the gripes people have about the facts in the movie are fixed by that.

Special effects and stuff like that were insane. The movie had little plot though, kinda dry from that aspect. More of a magnificent special effects movie than good acting/plot.
