i was kind of surprised that I can't get 241 fps constant even in tf2 with chris max frames after buying a 7950. just wondering if one of my parts is in dire need of an upgrade.

Your CPU isn't the best.

Also your graphics card won't benefit your fps in tf2.

I think its your processor. I'm not an expert on tf2 harware optimization shit but I think having a really fast cpu is what really matters. You have a good cpu in the sense that its new and has 4(i think) cores, but it doesnt have the raw speed needed to keep up with our favorite fast paced first person shooter....from 2007 >_>

Yup, what Geknaiir said. To go into a little more depth, your CPU is now 4 years old. The architecture is extremely outdated compared to what is available now 45nm compared to 22nm. Replace your CPU and your FPS will skyrocket.

overclock that cpu to 3ghz if you still have the stock cooler i had the same one my performance increased alot

Yeah, I overclocked mine to 3.2 and it helped a ton. The processor you have has more potential to overclock than most intel cpus, since it shipped at 2.6 when it can easily handle 3.0 on stock. Here's what i used to OC mine, had never done it before and had no problems.

You probably won't get to 241 stable, but your framerate will stay above 120 in anything but a 32 man pub. If you want to get to 240+ stable you're gonna need a new cpu and mobo.
