Fzeroremedypeople have got to be fucking joking if they dont think this is over powered
I'm pretty sure people know it's OP, they just aren't caring. Also, since when do comp players advocate something that is clearly a bug?
original rapid fire pistol script
targe script
quickscope glitch
building teleporters in spawn (gpit)
forcing fov past limits
keeping ubercharge through spawn cycling
?_?
a lot of the times that there's bugs in tf2, people end up exploiting it until it's either actually officially incorporated into the game by valve like the quickfire script or the targe script, or removed like in the case of the quickscope and teleporter glitch

Am I the only one who can't tell if these medics are being serious or not?
I'd be seriously bummed out if these guys are actually holding their teammates hostage to try and keep what is obviously an exploit legal.

That is clearly a bug and its not working as intended, however the passive reload buff alone seems of a very balanced nature, so after this script bug gets fixed I dont see any problem with the xbow

I'm cool with the honor system here. Ban the exploit and overturn a round only if the opposing team complains/submits a ticket saying it happened and it can be verified by watching the demo. Other than that, it's not only stupid, but also unreasonable to expect someone to monitor every match demo until this exploit is resolved.
Ban the winger though. Scouts are already strong enough, dammit.

Yeah the Pyro flare gun doesn't have this issue because there's still a firing delay after you shoot a flare and switch weapons as if the flare gun was still reloading. So it seems like Valve could easily patch this bug if they knew about it.

So, I'm assuming the medics are just shooting a bow at mid, waiting for it to reload, and just shoot quickly again. Rinse and repeat?

At this point even I am starting to feel bad that all of their unlocks are banned, but fuck that class

for the machine gun thing:
+attack
Wait 0.058 seconds
Switch to slot2
Switch to slot1
Wait 0.600 seconds
-attack
loop
That's the fastest I was able to get it.
Here's a synapse macro if you have a razer mouse/keyboard and are willing to put up with synapse until it gets patched: http://www.mediafire.com/download/wjbajuo7gbc0k47/%2Bcrossbow.RazerSynapse

On the bright side, if the only way to get it to work is to utilize the wait command it shouldn't work with a comp config execed on a properly set up server :/

You can do it manually pretty easy, can be difficult to maintain the timing and combine it with moving.

Getting it to work with wait would be pretty annoying, if you want to script it you'd use something external like autohotkey or the synapse driver which works everywhere. Otherwise you can do it without a script, just a lot less reliably.

I've been waiting for passive reload for a long time, it was the perfect buff pre-reload spped increase. But now it's hard to deny that the crossbow is by far the most viable option for a medic, and while it's not OP in a way that's frustrating for opponents, it's certainly OP in that it removes variety from the medic primary by being the most viable option by far (ignoring the bug). I'm really on the fence as to whether it needs a ban until the reload speed gets nerfed, but there's no doubt that with the bug it's just ridiculous.

we allow the ubersaw despite it being a clear upgrade to the bonesaw and other options (though IIRC vitasaw and head statue are both banned) so why wouldnt we allow crossbow lol

This was awhile ago, so some details could get sketchy but the ubersaw was a direct upgrade. The difference was the timing and valve having a different thought on TF2 way back then. When that upgrade came out I think, we comp players, gave Valve a little more trust on what they were doing with the unlocks. If I remember correctly, medic was the first class to get new items and Valve was promising that each class would get BALANCED new items shortly.
Fast forward a bit and it was far from the truth. Now I don't even think they think about it, at this point I think valve just has a diablo stat roll system for new shit.

Really as far as buffs go, it's not that much of a buff, now I can fire it without having to wait forever to reload, or having to go "now is a good time to reload" and so on. It eliminated an annoying part of using the weapon.
Needles still give you a much better shot of killing stuff, and crossbows provide 1337 arrow heals 1-2 times a night and the occasional 40 damage air shot.

being able to use it midfight for burst damage/heals without having to worry about it being loaded for when you need to bail and ward off somebody chasing you is pretty decent imo

Yeah I tend to agree with a lot of you I think it should have been like this in the first place, in terms of a defensive/escape weapon I think the regular syringe gun is more powerful, this will maybe just encourage people to use the crossbow more.

Crossbow brings "express heals", while Needles have more consistent output / protection. I'm almost always going to use Needles anyway.
