Honestly the best way to stop hackers is to go to their house and chop fucking head off.
it's funny how he still hasn't provided an explanation as to why he has the vac ban
makes $ense
makes $ense
People with the nerve to even attempt trying a cheat out in any way is scary. If they get away with it do you think it's a) going to never happen again they were just curious, or b) going to perfect the art and get more advanced with it. I'll choose option b and keep it real.
I bet there's dozens of people already cheating in esea anyway and nobody has any idea because of how advanced the hacks are these days. At least in TFC's days it was obvious as fuck. Also vhalin kind of cleaned up his rep after he went to LAN and won with x6 thus proving he doesn't need cheats to be one of the best in the game.
Now if vhalin had dodged LAN like a few other sketchy people I know then i'd still have my doubts.

blinK I remember when the list came out in TFC and I was absolutely shocked on some of the players who were listed you never would have thought. Nicest guys around, seemed totally legit.
I remember anticipating that list coming out and then being disappointed. It didn't really contain any of the top players in the game, it was primarily filled with players in lower leagues or those just outside the echelon of top players.
For a lot of the players flagged though you could tell they desperately wanted to be recognized as good. You'd always see them alias as better players or add top guilds to their aliases that they weren't even a part of. The prototypical cheater is the kind of person that would farm their own ELO and other weird shit to project themselves as a better player.
In tfc if you cheated in a pub it didn't matter, you were banned from leagues and ostracized from the competitive community. I don't see why the policy would be any different for you guys. Catching the aliased cheaters that tried to come back was incredibly entertaining...the sheer level that people will lie and develop stories so they can continue to play a video game is amazing. Too bad the legend of massacre/boost got lost with the catacombs. :(

as fun as it is to rag on vhalins history/e-dating habits, anybody whos played with or against him knows that he worked incredibly hard (gained 40 lbs) s8 to get his dm up to where it needed to be, hes got really good gamesense, comms incredibly well and is pretty easy to play with
nobody is ignoring the fact he cheated, he just proved he could win without them so its a different story

and he would have never won lan and proved himself if he was banned from esea for cheating on and alt. why should phrakture be treated differently?

While we're discussing this, to be honest I think everybody deserves a second opportunity. Many people who are found cheating have like a death sentence put on their online persona, but I do believe everyone deserves a new chance to make things right, and I have seen many people who have pulled themselves together and show they can do stuff the legit way. To me this goes both to gaming and life in general
shruggerand he would have never won lan and proved himself if he was banned from esea for cheating on and alt. why should phrakture be treated differently?
In that case why should anyone proved to be cheating be treated differently? Do you suggest not banning cheaters in hope that one day they will be legitimate players?

ban every person who has ever used the achievement manager
I can not live in a world where people don't get the achievements the proper way

Is there any proof. If not I don't think a ban is necessarily. Like proof on esea client that he was cheating. Also it was on an alt.

These things aren't equivalent at all.
SAM doesn't give you an unfair advantage in a tournament against other people playing for money. It gives you 14 hats and 27 weapons.

if you want to take that stance, fine. but don't say it is okay that vhalin did it just because he proved himself later. still, I really don't believe hacking on an alt in some lobbies/pubs(and failing at it, hence the vac ban) means he is going to cheat on his main account. Why wouldn't he just cheat on his main account in the first place?

vhalin gave me a ride to lan. i was scared for my life. if he could cheat in a video game, who knows what he could do to me in real life??

he never defended vhalin though shrug
I think we also need to entertain the notion that he could have been testing a variety of hacks on the multitude of alts and seeing what came back clean. It's difficult to argue against a ban when the evidence pretty clearly shows it being definitively that guy, at least unless you want to basically accept that we refuse to do anything about hackers unless they cheat on client and are then caught by the client as well.

I always thought the point of having a second account when hacking is to keep a potential VAC off the main account? While bans happened later, I have never heard of valve waiting more than a week to ban. So, you would use your other account to make sure it's still vac proof.

keep in mind that the vhalin hacking thing happened years ago. (i didn't read too much about it so i'm not gonna say whether he hacked or not).
we are a different community today. right now, we want to be taken more seriously than we did 5 years ago. more people pay attention to the competitive scene nowadays so we are pretty much required to be a little stricter when it comes to cheating. i'm not saying that phrakture should or shouldn't be punished. i'm saying that we shouldn't use vhalin as an example because it happened when we were a much weaker community, not because he proved himself later.

vhalin's ban was also like a year old and back before he was even considered a great player when it was discovered, rather than being "around the same time he went invite".

2sy_morphiendI can't even remember if the sandcastles ban was manual as well (As blackbanjo's was).
it was my open team's viaduct match that got sandcastles banned. we even won the match but he seemed so fishy and the wireframe of the stv afterwards was hilariously blatant. we submitted a dispute later and it was done manually.

Roger, thought I remembered something about it being manual. I did remember mesr and duck shitting on him though.

saw phrakture this morning on the reddit mge server, sat his ass down on badlands mid when it was only me and a friend on. he left as soon as I mentioned his vac alt.
