So last night I was studying for a test with a friend and he managed to knock over his drink and some of it spilled through the top of my tower and landed on my video card....
My monitor started freaking out and colors were going everywhere so I obviously turned off the pc as fast as I could. After soaking up all the shit I turned it back on and my resolution was all screwed up, but i got to the desktop. When I got to the desktop it started re installing all my audio and video drivers, which I only assume were for my video card. Upon restarting my computer to update my monitor wouldnt recognize the driver or something anymore because nothing showed up on the screen.
All the fans were still working I am just getting no input on my monitor. Thoughts?
My guess is worst case my video card is fried and i have to get a new one, best case im letting it sit for a day or two and am going to try again so hopefully it works. I need some help/suggestions
thanks

it sounds like your video card is fried

video card is probably fucked, take it out asap and try using on-board video

Your video card is definitely fucked, your entire motherboard/cpu combo might be as well.
If you have onboard video, try doing what #3 suggested and make sure your cpu and motherboard are still good, otherwise you'll have to replace them as well.

keep turning it on and off and on and off until something cool happens

Depending on how good of a friend this is, have him give you money for a replacement, then just RMA it. You just made money off some retard spilling shit on your computer and you have a brand new card.

There's a difference between letting someone who broke your stuff replace it/pay for it and letting him pay for it and then frauding the manufacturer to get a free replacement on top of that.

Arcade the I'm a shitty person tactic
The friend is just as shitty if he causes hundred(s) of dollars of damage to a friend and doesn't try to make it up to him.

By some miracle, I turned it on after class today and it worked... I guess letting it sit to possibly dry out more actually was an option. And nothing is working any differently than before. Thanks for all the help fortunately i got lucky with this one.

If it was just water drying it up should suffice. Ions are what kills computers since it creates bad circuits (sugar can cause heating problems though). You got pretty lucky.

The problem would be that unless his computer was in a lab then it's almost certainly not de-ionized water that was poured onto it. Water from a tap is going to have loads of dissolved substances in it.

Depending on the source/tap, sometimes it's small enough to not matter much. I (for "fun") washed an old fx something with water and it worked, though it wasn't on which makes it much safer.

That is true, it's really dependent on the conditions of the water source. Either way it's sounding like OP's card is probably fucked.
