good over-ear headphones

im looking for some good over-ear headphones to get on cyber monday/this weekend. any suggestions? as of now, im thinking of Audio-Technica M50's as by review from my brother and his friends.
Budget is ~100 or less

Not necessarily looking for gaming headphones, as I already have a mic. Mainly just good sound quality, some noise cancellation, and comfort.

You have to be more specific than that. What genre of music, what is the source (ipod, computer, amped/not, soundcard etc, lossless, mp3), do you prefer neutral or more bass, what kind of signature. For gaming audio techinca ad700 and ad900s are supposed to be really good with soundstage, but are somewhat lacking in bass.
Like I personally use grados because I listen to a lot of rock but I wouldnt recommend them to someone who mainly will use them for gaming or listening to edm or something. You said you wanted noise cancellation in the op. Closed cans generally have a lot less soundstage than open back (no isolation) headphones which is something to keep in mind.

Logitech G35 are very nice and have some convenient side buttons that you can use to skip through and play/pause tracks. The normal price is like $135 but im sure there's some good deals out there.

I read somewhere that the M50s aren't good for gaming because they don't provide a good sense of "space" (which I'm guessing is positional audio?)

I have a pair of HD 558's they're lacking in bass..
The whole story behind positional audio depends on how good your Sound Card is, and how well (lets say)a game has been made with it in mind.

I use a ASUS Xonar DG 5.1 which is somewhat a small amp to enchance the sound quality and bass.

M50's are nice althought I have never used them, that's just what I have seen people say on forums.

I have a pair of HD 558's they're lacking in bass..
The whole story behind positional audio depends on how good your Sound Card is, and how well (lets say)a game has been made with it in mind.

Recently obtained a pair of Brainwavz HM5's. Hands down they are the most neutral yet clear headphones I have ever used. Where there is meant to be bass, there will be bass. No forced, muddied bass or ear raping highs (unless of course whatever you're listening to involves ear raping highs...ahem...).

For $180, I picked the headphones up with a FiiO E11 portable headphone amp, aka my 'bass box' (from MP4 Nation).

I wanted something neutral, mainly for the sound clarity it would provide and I'm incredibly happy. Whenever I do want a bass overload, just plug in the amp and bam, lifes a good 'un.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD558's and I love everything about them. Though once again, it depends on what Sound Card you have (if any) and I do infact have a Sound Card (the Creative Titanium: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102033). The sound is outstanding, the directional sound sounds perfect to me and because of the sound card, you can increase the Bass by a LOT. I don't plan on moving away from either of these anytime soon and if one of them were to break, I'd replace it right away without a doubt.

The HD558 also feels very durable and I like the soft velvet that it has on the ears/top of the headpiece. It is also not a heavy headset and has never once caused any irritation to my ears or head.

I have a pair of Beyer DT990s, they're outside your pricerange but are actually really good value for money if you want to stretch your budget. Please don't spend this much money without getting a half decent DAC though.

I wouldnt necessarily use it for gaming ALL the time, but sometimes most likely. I generally use earbuds for gaming, these might just be more of chill, relax, gaming. not sure though
