So for Christmas/my birthday I get to build my own PC or buy one but I don't know where to start. I only have my mac laptop and don't know much about computers but my budget is around 800-900 including the monitor so if you guys could recommend a setup or make a quick build that would be really helpful and nice! Thanks in advance to any one that helps.

Edit: I'm dumb, just saw all the pc build threads and all my bad.
Also what I have so far-http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2jZIO
Still working on it

Hope this helps, I'm not really experienced in building PC's but people have used this site before, no idea if it's still valid. Have fun.

Don't get Rosewill PSUs. Get a well known brand like Corsair. I don't know about their cases, though.

Both Rosewill and Corsair manufacture a lot of good PSUs and a few not so good ones (mostly the really cheap budget units). Both are neither raidmax, coolmax, anything-max "stay away from it"-manufacturers nor are they on "you can't go wrong, it's just about how much you're willing to spend" seasonic level.

When in doubt look for reviews or for a quick check consult the OCN Reccomended Power Supplies List.

tl;dr
The Rosewill Capstone 650W is fine.

Would you be able to use an i5-4570k and overclock with that build? Also, is there a disadvantage to using micro atx over atx? I'm planning on building soon, and I wanted to include a 4570k and GTX 760 while keeping things around $1,000 usd

No disadvantage to using mATX over ATX other than the loss of an extra PCI slot, which most people dont use anyways. Here's what i'd do for 1000:

I'd probably replace the CPU cooler with a Hyper 212. It performs well and is quite cheap at around $30. I'd also suggest not spending $100 on a case when you can probably cut back another $30. Throw that extra money towards a higher quality PSU or something.

Granted I cheated and bought the AMD FX 9370 + AMD's liquid cooling kit for $220 during cyber Monday so I saved quite a bit.

techhelper1I just prefer Newegg over this PCPartPicker.

PCPartPicker just gives you the prices of the parts from multiple different websites so you can find the cheapest solution.
Theres not way for you to actually buy the parts from PCPartPicker you would buy them from newegg or a similar site.

Its just giving you a way to organize builds and check prices
