neat idea, I think the case looks ugly as fuck but w/e. Think the biggest problem is Razer is obv going to have to take existing parts and re-change how they look to fit this system, which means they're going to be more expensive...at some point you're better off just paying someone else to help you build your rig for you if you're not technologically adept at all.

Eventually when costs go down if this caught on I could see it being awesome for people though, if they could shrink it somewhat you'd have a solid Steambox idea that would be easily upgradable.

Seems like something that would be cool to use, but I could never afford something like this (and I would rather just build my pc). Interesting idea though.

honestly I can't think of a single reason to buy this over building your own (probably WAY more powerful) PC. seriously it's not that difficult, there are tons of guides and videos if you can't do it, or you can have a friend help you. also you have to buy the parts from razer and only razer (unless they license their stuff which I doubt they will do) so they can set the prices as high as they want like you said. kind of the same problem with that modular phone people keep trying to crowdfund.

cool idea but not very practical.

Don't look at this as a product, look at it as a concept. If this idea can actually work, we could be looking at super easy PC, or even console upgrades for average consumers in the future. It could be absolutely amazing. The fucking thing is oil-cooled too, holy balls.

"For more than 30 years, only the most hardcore enthusiasts were able to take advantage of PC customizability."

thats funny cause me and my friend watched 3 newegg tutorials and got straight to building and we literally made no mistakes that damaged the pc. (although we did make non damaging mistakes)

This reminds me of phonebloks. Cool concept, won't be worth the money and not at all practical..

"The modularity of Project Christine makes it perpetually customizable, helping eliminate the need to replace entire systems."

lol okay

Looks like you have to replace the entire tower if you want a new Mobo/CPU, which seems really dumb.

#9 that seems to be the exact opposite of what you have to do. The Mobo and CPU are slots you slot into the tower just like all the other parts.

unless i'm missing something, but the longer vid I edited into the OP seems to show this.

They say that CPUs and mobos are slottable, just like everything else. I'm guessing the idea is that the "computer" is basically a big PCIe relay with special slots for the CPU and PSU.

They hype it up as being really customizable and stuff but it's more restrictive than anything.

(Of course, it's also just a concept. Who knows if they'll do it, or if it's really commercially feasible.)

This'll give you more of an overview of it as opposed to a trailer.

The only notable fact was that everything is mineral oil cooled.

Why mineral oil? I don't get it synthetic oils have no impurities lubricate/cool/seal better and have twice the lifetime. UGH...

I think people often forget if there wasn't a market for this, they wouldn't be making it.

all these modular gadget ideas, (phonebloks and this). I think they are awesome from a consumer POV, but they will only have real success if the companies developing them make the standards open for everyone to use without royalties and don't impose hardware restrictions.

I mean, I can see this becoming really really popular if its released open because then just about every company is able to make acessories for it, or modify it etc. And there can be multiple modules marketplaces, etc, etc...

I know I might be going against the grain but I think it looks nice and would personally probably buy it if it were set at a reasonable price.

Yeah because it's not like Thermaltake did this 3 years ago.

similar appearance, not the same thing.

razer's concept you buy the modules and pop them in, that thermaltake chassis you still have to know how to install cpu's, ram, gpu's, etc.
