The announcement of the new season is coming out soon so I figured it was about time that I said my piece.
This has been a pretty rough season; a series of unfortunate events that basically never ended which we’ve learned from. ESEA has now hired a completely new team that will make sure to keep the client up to date and safe for use. The worst part is that the drama distracts people from the game or even discourages them from following it. Rather than the focus being on the season, it was on stuff that just detracts from the game.
I’m not going to go into the argument on whether TF2 needs the ESEA LAN since it’s been talked to death. I’m also not going to sit here and try and convince you guys that NA TF2 dies without ESEA. I don’t think you guys want to hear it and I don’t really feel like saying it. Obviously, I think ESEA will still be a better product than CEVO but I’m not going to start saying a bunch of bad things about CEVO just to prove my point.
For a lot of you, the things that transpired in the last few months has broken the trust of the community as well as lost their support. I understand many of you plan to never give a cent to ESEA; that’s unfortunate but I understand. All I can do is guarantee improvement.
The first update of the season took a few days and really hurt the season but since then updates have been out in minutes, and at the most 1 hour. Servers were added this season, the prize pot continued to grow, main was added in NA, and expansion into EU. I think besides the start, this season has been pretty great.
If you decide to play in CEVO over ESEA, I would understand. The only thing I don’t want is for everyone to be influenced by the mass amount of +frags any post that said “Fuck ESEA” got. If you really think that way then I can’t stop you but don’t let yourself be influenced by the mob mentality. I really disliked this whole, “Where should we play?” theme that was going on during the season. If you think you’ll have more fun in ESEA, then play ESEA. If you think you’ll have more fun in CEVO, then play CEVO. If you have enough time, then shit, play both.
I’m pretty sure ESEA is going to take a hit in the number of teams. It’s ok and probably deserved. All I can do is promise that we’ll continue to do everything in our power to make the $6.95 worth every penny. If it takes a season off of ESEA for us to prove it and for you to go test the water at CEVO then so be it. We’re not going anywhere and even after 4 years, I still love this job.
gl hf to CEVO and I look forward to our fight to the death!
Also, we’re looking to improve the league so if you have any suggestions ranging from format to minor rules, post them here. If they’re good, I’ll be sure to pass them along.

After seeing the people committed to cevo, I am even more excited to play in ESEA.

GeknaiirWill tf2 main stay even though there are fewer teams?
It really depends on the number of teams remaining. I really hope that we can and I will work my ass off to get enough teams to ensure it.

Playing Thanksgiving week was fucking dumb this season. Many teams have people travelling. My suggestion is that, regardless of season delays and whatnot, matches are not scheduled during weeks like that.

no more non invite articles eh?

Honestly, I don't really have anything against you or Kalkin. You two are pretty great admins, actually. I assume your decisions really come down to the rules and your higher-ups.
That said, I don't like lpkane's internet personality and, frankly, I don't trust him. Since he's a co-owner, unless he leaves ESEA, I don't see myself playing in ESEA again. From what I've seen of Torbull, he's a nice guy.
Since I realize that the chances of lpkane leaving are extremely low to none, I'm going to play in CEVO only in the next season I play in (I might take a season off to focus on school). This is based on my own stance on ESEA, and I hope this post does not create a bandwagon effect. I want everyone to internally debate whether they want to play in ESEA, CEVO, or both.
That said, I'd love to see any rules to allow all Invite matches to be played if at all possible. This season, while it wasn't that terrible, could have been better if Watch This was playing. Also, make sure all names are appropriate for casting, not just Invite. A lot of good Main matches could not be casted because of inappropriate team names.
Again, everyone should decide for themselves what league(s) they want to play in. Hopefully no one just jumps on the CEVO bandwagon without thinking.

Better stats, the current logs.tf with accurate healspread is really nice. I think that's an easy way to improve the league.

by hiring a completely new team for maintaining the client, do you mean you guys fired the old team completely or have they just been relocated
i find it hard to support any company that willingly does what they did to their customers
it feels like a lot of people don't understand what they could have done with the information they had access to, especially if you do anything like paypal transactions, online banking, or confidential work on the computer you used to play esea in
some people don't care too, which amazes me
i have nothing against the tf2 admins that work for esea, but i'd really prefer to support a league that doesn't take advantage of their customers in the way that esea did

ESEA suddenly stopped paying the lower division writers LOL and it's not that no one wants to follow it's that no one can anymore
Killing make the $6.95 worth every penny
I'm assuming you're talking about how much they pay you because ESEA gets A LOT more money than that from us. I wonder how much of a bonus you got for posting this on behalf of lpkane.

KillingIf you think you’ll have more fun in ESEA, then play ESEA.
It's not about fun. If I play CEVO, I'm playing TF2. If I play ESEA I'm still playing TF2 (although probably with worse FPS and ping). I'll have fun either way. It's about dignity and self respect.
KillingAlso, we’re looking to improve the league so if you have any suggestions ranging from format to minor rules, post them here. If they’re good, I’ll be sure to pass them along.
I don't remember a season where I haven't seen this said. There is almost no small changes to be made that aren't completely obvious. The rest of the changes we want are large projects (like a good pug or scrim system) which are always brought up and never brought to fruition.
So yeah, I don't really have any faith in your words. On top of that you've been rude or unhelpful in the past.
That said, if I found a main team I'd probably still play ESEA because I crave competition, but in terms of ESEA as a company you still aren't giving me a reason to trust you until you prove it.

I do not envy the position you're in Killing, I just hope you're not taking any of the anti-ESEA statements personally, it's not healthy.

The previous client developer was fired, not relocated, and then ESEA took time to find someone who is capable of doing that specialized role, but now we have a team of people. ESEA has put controls and policies in place to ensure that this doesn't happen again and continues to go through steps to ensure that everything is operated responsibly.
