australium color on weps

what's the element in configs that tweaks when you can actually see the GOLD on the australium weapons, like on highframes I see the gold, but on maxframes, I just see brown color. what's the variable that messes with that?

Isn't it like directX 8/8.1(then it looks poop); and directX 90/95/98(looks nice)
Might be this 'mat_specular 1' as well.

I think mat_phong also changes it

On dx 90, the gold weapons are silver or something.

Removing phong turns the whole gun gold.
