Steam is stuck on connecting account?

When I started up Steam today, I was stuck on this part.

It'll show the rectangle box of "Connect steam account: ___"

I tried restarting my computer and ending the process.

Any solutions?

If all else fails, just try waiting it out. There's been a bunch of weird issues with steam servers as of late.

You could disable your internet connection and start Steam in offline mode, then enable it again. That way you can actually play games and you should be able to connect to servers, you just can't talk to anyone on steam.

You can talk to people here http://steamcommunity.com/chat/

I assume you're logged in on your browser or you wouldn't be able to post here

Can you not bump a 6 year old thread without checking steamstat.us?

You can see a massive dip there in the graph, and about 5 minutes ago a bunch of services said were orange/red indicating them being offline.
