My friend asked me to recommend him a laptop for $500ish that will suit his needs (light gaming/everyday use/porn)
I know a lot about desktop hardware but there are so many sketchy laptops out there i don't trust myself getting him one. I'm hoping to find one with a recently new i5 + a dedicated card but with that budget i'm not too sure that is possible.
is it worth getting an apu? i know they're decent in desktops but not too sure about laptops.
thx

you wont find an i5 + dedicated unless maybe its refurbished/used. if hes trying to do any type of gaming on it then an a10 will be a better option than an i5 with integrated graphics.

This is close to what I have (8GB RAM & 1TB HDD). It's fairly powerful but its build quality is pretty shitty. As long as you are careful to not bang it around that much (I bought a case for mine to put it in my school bag) it should be fine. I also had to update the BIOS because of a charging problem, but that's pretty easy (You can just download a program from Lenovo that'll do it).
