finally we can have full parity between the twitch vod section and the tftv youtube channel
and no more need to download frag videos is equally awesome

Welp, now I can't click on my profile in the top right to get to my likes and favorites easily.
Oh my god, it's so fucking beautiful. Youtube did something right!
alec_no need to download frag vids anymore thank god
Won't there still be the bitrate limit on youtube though? So the quality from downloads will still be better. At least for non-partnered channels.

For the record, it's not publicly available yet. I don't even think it's been done with videos outside of this playlist yet: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbsGxdAPhjv9UrLo19pS8teoRKj7funAy
I'm guessing they're going to roll it out to partners first, then gradually give it to people with lots of subscribers and long-time users, then going down the list until it just makes sense to give it to everyone.

I thought there was some kind of trick with youtube where you could record at 60 fps at half speed, then use the youtube video options to play the video back at 2x speed, and it was like a phaux-60fps youtube video

My friends told me about this, and apparently it works pretty well. I think YouTube only does 24fps video instead of 30, so it might only be 48fps, but hey, this next update will make all those annoying steps no longer needed!

Unfortunately this doesn't work in Firefox yet, or it if does, my HTML5 extension is outdated, guess I'll have to switch to Chromium for YT. About time they did this. And yea, the 60 fps at half speed looks like this.

It's still just gonna destroy the quality at a higher fps...

It does 30 fps, but can also do 24 fps for videos recorded with film standards, and maybe 25 fps as well for PAL.

They should also improve their encoders or what the fuck they use to process their videos on upload, everything I upload is crystal clear on my end and becomes so pixelated on their side.
