If I'm looking at the Site Discussion category of the forums, and I click new thread, it would have "Site Discussion" filled in as the category of the post.
Not sure if this is something other people expect to happen, but I'm always thrown off that it doesn't.

Yeah it bugs me too. Also if you do leave it blank then you see two category errors, one of which isn't user friendly (the one about making sure it's numerical)
