DPM will always vary on map, whether your team is winning and whether your style was effective against that specific team.
If you're basing all of your play as roamer on damage instead of "did i do what was needed for our push to be more effective" you're likely not being as effective as you could. Just avoid looking at your damage or anything like that until you review what you did.

most of the important things you should be doing while roaming aren't going to be tracked in stats. uber forces, drawing attention/distracting, and just being a general nuisance are all critical to being a good roamer and none of those show up in stats. you can inflate your damage by bombing a lot, but what good is 280 dpm if you're dying without accomplishing anything? it's way more important to focus on team synergy and fulfilling your role in that regard than to worry about stats.

Literally the truest statement in this thread. People get way too caught up in stats...stats are useful, but don't always tell the true tale. A lot of times people get called out for low stats only when a team loses, but not if they win. Low dmg / frags doesn't mean you had a bad game. I'd rather be the low dpm roamer who makes the smart plays on the winning team, then the high dpm roamer who looks to pad stats on the losing team. There are very few elite roamers who consistently have high dpm while playing to win...don't compare yourself to them. Play the best style that works for you. If you feel you have faults, or if your playstle (more than stats) are causing yourself not to be effective, watch your demos and see what you can improve on.
