puddeagletfThere's a dedicated thread similar to this called "do you like the song" check it out. Might find rap in it :)
edit: But if we are talking rap, check out my mini playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdIwCY_Tg9AETXHlACnlEqJhyCytCgGs1 Some songs in their have little to no meaning in it but I have them in it because of the best while others do have lyrics with meaning in them.
Not to be mean but thats a really white boy "i like rap dawg" playlist
Haha, that's fair enough your entitled to your opinion and if its not your thing than that's fine :) I just tend to like stuff that either has some meaning or a good beat haha but thanks for checking it out!

It seems pretty good tbh
Kanye West because of his versatility and ability to reinvent himself constantly.
Some example tracks from his solo albums:
The College Dropout: Never Let me Down, Jesus Walks
"Old School" Kanye using Soul samples on his debut album.
Late Registration: Heard em Say, Gone
Clean beats combined with orchestral elements.
Graduation: Stronger, Homecoming
Aiming for a "stadium sound" with this album. I think he did pretty well by sampling Daft Punk.
808s and Heartbreak: Welcome to Heartbreak, Love Lockdown
This is considered to be his weakest album by many but i personally love the minimalistic sound and more melodic approach to the songs. Welcome to Heartbreak is probably in my top 3 all time favourites of Kanye.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: Power, All of the Lights
MBDTF stands in direct contrast to 808s and Heartbreak because of it's incredibly full and refined sound on almost all of the tracks. Also critically acclaimed across the board and considered to be his best album.
Yeezus: New Slaves, Black Skinhead
An experimental and different album which sounds very aggressive and nothing like the "Old School" Kanye West. Pretty hard to get into at first but i really enjoyed it after a couple of listens. Also New Slaves ending with a sample from an hungarian rock band at 2:50 sounds fucking incredible.

Firstly I would say not to confuse hip hop and rap they are kinda overlapping but different genres
Lotsa alt hiphop:
Eyedea and Abilities, Atmosphere, Cage, Cannibal Ox, El-P, Del the Funky Homosapien, Aesop Rock, Das Racist
As well as older artists:
Gang Starr, Nas, Mos Def, Biggie, Pac, Wu-Tang
I'd say my 5 must listen to albums are the following in no particular order:
-Illmatic by Nas
Really defined the genre for the early 90s and showed what depths lyricism could be taken to
-First Born by Eyedea & Abilities
a personal favorite an existential philosophical album that really blew my mind at the time
-Moment of Truth by Gang Starr
I love this album because is in rejection of the more materialistic sloppy Top 40 hiphop
-The Marshall Mathers LP
Both commercial and edgy, full of emotion
-When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold by Atmospere
An album of stories and twists that I return to every now and then. Makes me smile and think about my life
Good luck and happy listening
