I'd really like to try out some of these new maps but every time I bring them up for vote in a pug or one gets chosen people start complaining and leave. If anyone knows of any play-testing groups you could link me, that'd be great. If not, feel free to add me @ http://steamcommunity.com/id/singlemexicanbillionaresmeet/ and we can start one :]
I used to host these but now that I can't play TF2 and also no longer have a server, I can't.
Some friends and I want to start playing beta maps in pugs, mostly just really new or mostly-unplayed maps, fully expecting them to be horrible for competitive. I'm hoping it stays a really casual group if I can get it off the ground with eager puggers.
The group is public if you want to join it, but I've just started it up yesterday so there isn't a whole lot of commotion or really much of anything yet. If we can gather up twelve people at any point though, I'd be happy to try to get a pug going (and hopefully not have it crash and burn immediately because I totally know what I'm doing).
Add me if you wanna chat about it or have any ideas, or are at all a more responsible gamer than I am.

I dunno man, it seems like there are people who really want to do it and it'd be cool to get them all together.
The main reason the new map weekends didn't survive is because there are not enough new maps that are viable for comp 6s. Once all the good/alright maps have been played for a while people get bored and leave. Or if a map is particularly bad the pugs die for the night.

That's exactly what happens every time.

I'm not against reviving them once again if there are enough people that want to play.
eulogy mentioned wanting to start these again. i'll show this post to him but if somebody wants to coordinate this, people could use tf2mix server(s) and the mumble as well.
A few months back i talked to jodd about bringing a "new map" rotation into the mix servers every friday, in which no stock maps would be played throughout the night for a good change of pace. however i struggled to find enough maps with potential at that time.
if you guys can toss some map suggestions out (maps that still have an active creator would be optimal) and show enough support i will gladly make this happen.

I don't think it's a bad thing if an "inhouse" pug group dies, honestly it happens all the time, there's nothing wrong with the new map pug groups dying a few months in for each one. Just keep having new ones pop up, maybe we'll even get two at once at some point.
People are interested. Go for it.

If anyone would like to use an existing group and can't get the original group, I'd be willing to allow you to use the group I made when I did them.
