I played at lowest settings on my giant 800x600 crt and then worked over the summer of 2011 to get a good pc.

I went to a friend's house and he was playing. Back then I had like a 2009 Mac desktop that I later learned I had an average of 18 fps. That's also how I played my first season of competetive. None the less that was how I got into the game
grillzi played whencyzercarnage was still good
carnage was never good, everybody else was just bad
edit: er, I don't think I quite worded that right. Carnage, for a long time, seemed to be miles ahead of every other scout in terms of skill, however I think it was more that no one could effectively counter his playstyle until like, late 2011- early 2012

Sep. 18, 2007, I have no excuse for being this shitty at the game.
A few months after the game released. As far as competitive goes, I believe it was mid 2010? Maybe a bit sooner.
AustinNovemember 2012, came straight out of the Xbox 360 Orange Box competitive scene to the PC pub scene. Took me a year to realize PC had a comp scene.
Bull shit austin I never saw your ass but yeah same story i guess, around that year was when I started to play on pc

My friend said that TF2 was free for a week and I was interested to try it out since he had talked a bit about it, couple days later the F2P update came out and I was slightly shocked that the free week didn't end and I just kept playing it ever since that.

Awesome to read all these stories. I posted on reddit as well and got some interesting responses there too.
A little more about my history: I started out in 2012 with a base model Mac laptop that was capable of s blinding 60 FPS with Chris' maxframes config. Those were the days...
