cirloI may be too strict, but i'd ban Dead Ringer, and i'm quite afraid that demoknight would give a kind of randomness to the gameplay...
Oh wow i didnt even notice the dead ringer being unbanned.
Thanks.

Can't wait to see how you do, I might stick around to cast/help out after I'm finished taking a break.

Imo Dead Ringer doesn't need to be banned. Its ridiculously situational and the speaker-shattering uncloak noise can be heard from halfway across the map.
My personal philosophy on weapon bans is don't ban just because something isn't used. Only weapons that are abused or annoyingly force a very specific playstyle should warrant whitelisting. If a player can be creative and find a niche for a weapon that is virtually always a direct downgrade, they should be permitted that creative freedom.
Its very easy to spot a feign if you are paying any attention at all, and even if you fail to notice, the spy has like 6 seconds to get out of earshot (again you would have to not be paying any attention at all).
Just some thoughts. Thanks for being so responsive to the community with your development, it really helps a huge amount.
Also: Very unpopular opinion but I think the tide turner should be unbanned. It's a massively high risk high reward weapon. You lose what is without a single doubt the best single weapon BY FAR in the entire game and gain a potential for huge picks and crazy escapes. I dont think anyone will be running the tide turner full time, but it has the potential to spice up an otherwise stagnant demoman metagame.

Honest question, when you spy dressed as someone dies, does it show his corpse or whoever he was disguised as?

When you DR with a friendly disguise it appears as if the friendly player is dying, but I've never seen anyone actually fall for it. For one, it is the spy who is darkened on the scoreboard for the duration of his feign (not the real medic), and two it should be pretty obvious when a "medic" dies to a 30 damage spam rocket while not healing anyone.

In terms of 'unbanning as much as possible', you might as well consider unbanning the red-tape recorder (because it's so situational to make a real impact) and perhaps even the classic.
Maybe the classic is completely broken in comp, I have never seen it used in comp myself.

I would like to request that the Diamondback be banned in the whitelist. Weapons that reward you with stored crits just for performing your class' objective (like the FJ or the Phlog) don't really feel fair to me in a 6s environment.

Thanks for all the suggestiongs! Ill take a closer look at them later today.

We intended on using Hudas Iscariote, but maybe you can customize it a little? If you're interested, drop me a PM :)

We're thinking of quite a unique function.
After gaining enough karma (or something along those lines), a player will be able to plan his own tournament. Servers will be provided by us, basically everything will be automated.
We don't have much info on how we want to go ahead and do this, but prizes will be points with which you can purchase stuff from the store. Like sponsor items, games, etc.
So in the end, while eSource will be planning the big tournaments, players throughout the year can plan their own smaller tournaments.
What are your thoughts?

Very interesting idea, I quite like the "karma" idea for more things than the tournament, possibly gear or games could be an incentive?
I could see karma being implemented as a League of Legends type thing where after you play a game, you can report players on the other team for good or bad behavior (mad in chat, bad sportsmanship, bad teamwork, etc) and they would receive or lose karma for those things (respectively).

We've decided to fully go for the automation system.
How it will work:
- A user with enough karma points (name subject to change) will be able to start a tournament. This is to prevent as many trolls from making fake tournaments.
- Upon creating the tournament you will set the prize pool, and if you want people to contribute to it. You will also set the category (BBall, Surf, Jump, 6v6, HL, etc). Prize Pools are made with eSource Points. eSource Points are the main currency. You earn them by playing on our training servers, doing tournaments, trading up weapons or you can simply buy them with your favourite payment provider.
- Players can navigate to an "open tournaments" list, click on yours and click "Join Tournament" (Teams are set up on your profile. More about the Team Creation will be said later)
- Once the tournament application date runs out, dates will automatically be set by the system. The tournament creator can, of course, change these. Once a date is locked in, players will be assigned a specific server that will be set up just for their game. If players fail to show up after numerous warnings a (temporary) global tournament ban will be put onto their account for wasting server resources and time.
- Brackets will be generated automatically with Challonge API.
- After the tournament is over the points will be distributed equally to winners and losers will, of course, also get the "Thanks for Playing" points.
- Completing a tournament, having won or lost, will give you karma points.
Keep in mind we will still host large tournaments from time to time. The automated tournaments are a service we want to provide all year round. No seasons to keep up with, just make a team and compete any time you want.
We are not yet sure if this will be a monthly subscription based service or if we will subtract a certain percentage of eSource Points from the prize pool.
This is one of the only ways we can pay for servers and such.
Thanks for your support so far and Happy New Year

so are eSource points redeemable for anything or are they just a measuring stick for e-peens?

Oh right, I forgot to mention that. eSource Points (ePoints) will allow you to buy sponsor gear, games and in-game items.
There is a slight chance that they could be converted to some higher currency which can then be cashed out via PayPal, but that's very undecided.

Well ESEA is trying to kill off TF2 and we already screwed the pooch with CEVO so this is nice.
Happy to see you're flexible with your whitelist, though kinda wondering why the Iron Bomber and Quickybomb Launcher are banned.

I'd also like to mention that we will probably need more time to develop such system. Thus, we may add more days to the countdown (http://eSrc.tv)
My sincere apologies

This karma could also be used in a PUG (hosted by the league) scenario where after the game you could rate their performance and how they did. Also, people with higher Karma's decisions would have a bigger impact than lower karma players to deter trolls and such.

Bad news everyone...
The lead developer has left eSource due to work related issues.
This basically means I am now all by myself with no coding skills... So unless we find a warm hearted person out there willing to co-own & code eSource for free... it's over.
UPDATE:
We have found a new programmer, however we are still very open to any help.
