I'm gonna run more pugs for players in season 18.
My goal is to run these before scrim/match times on purpose to not conflict, but its probably better to just join the group and watch for an announcement with the server and mumble. We also use the ESEA client's mumble so its easy to join up.
this is a neat idea
i know every revival of esea pugs only lasts a few weeks usually, but i support this idea because i don't know where the pugs are at anymore
I'd like to play and stream them. Last I remember the map list could use some updating, but hopefully this revival can become a little more permanent and we can get our voices heard for any changes we need. Maybe I can get some ESEA codes to give away too and get more people involved.
these pugs were fun and had quality gamers in them last season
and whatever happened to that esea matchmaking thing

Matchmaking happened for csgo and has been extremely popular
I doubt it'll ever actually happen for tf2

yea giving out codes to ugc players can help the pugs' ppopularity
If these take off again I'll definitely buy premium so I can play.
I'm going to start some pugs now if anyone is interested.
ESEA Mumble #4 - Channels 5 & 6 -- connect 198.144.179.109:64633 (Illinois 42)
Here's a few things if its you're first time:
Once 12 people ready up, you get a map vote. Once the map changes, you can type ".ready" for all classes except medic or ".ready class" for a specific class. Medics are captains and get a menu to pick in game. Once teams are picked you have to manually move yourself to the correct channel. You only get one off-class.
i had to leave the group because you guys kept spamming 3 announcement bursts several times an hour :(
idk if anyone messaged you complaining about the same thing, but that has been my only complaint about this revival
I thought it was just a bug with 3 of them popping up at once.
While this is bumped though, I've found that these pugs aren't worth playing at all right now. The only person who ever seems to be starting them is b4nny, on Dallas servers (which is to be expected if he is west coast), but for myself and some others I've talked to playing on Dallas ESEA servers just isn't worth it. My ping is literally doubled and hitreg seems awful.
My matches on Chicago seemed fine, but Dallas just isn't worth playing on for me. (Guess I'll submit a ticket)
I think there were two simultaneous pugs going on last night. One on Texas and another on Illinois. The servers are decent but they rubber band super bad once every ten minutes or so. I also get a way better connection to Texas than I do to Illinois, which doesn't make any sense since I live in Western NY.
I think there needs to be more admins on the ESEA page or at least more people that can post announcements. If sezco and b4nny aren't starting them, they most likely wont happen since they are the only two that can post announcements.
Hopefully these continue to grow and stay active since the potential is definitely there, but there are a fair amount of kinks that need working out.
a long-established problem with the pug system, at least for TF2, is that there is no system in place to let people know when pugs are forming. we shouldn't have to use a steam group to let people know there is a pug starting.
csgo players don't have this issue because the player base is large enough that you can basically open the client and immediately find populated servers during normal hours.
all that would be needed to fix this is a page showing the status of the pug servers, could be easily turned into a chrome extension to show a notification when a new pug is forming (something along these lines).
all of this is only relevant if people decide to really give the esea pugs a shot, but this discussion tends to happen every few years with barely any long-term change.
enigmahookyESEA won't improve the quality until people start using it for TF2.not true. I talked to Torbull at LAN and he's willing to do whatever it takes (within reason) to get them going.
so to you guys:
what concrete changes to the ESEA pug system would make you use it over the alternatives?
lets use this thread to document the changes you want to see in the servers. if we show some dedication in trying to improve the system, esea admins would be more active in implementing the improvements (like the server lag issue posted a week ago).
We shouldn't really need a steam group we should just look at the client when we want to join a pug and mumble can be given by the pug starter. If we want esea pugs to take off we need more than just the people already playing esea to pug as well.
Pugs aren't active in tf2 in general cause everyone has the attitude of "no one is added or playing so I'm not playing" which leaves 12 nerds just staring at an empty pug wondering what could have been
The only problem I've had is with the servers stuttering, and slight gripes about the pick system but the latter isn't that big of a deal. I just don't like captaining lol. Otherwise they've been pretty good and I'll definitely be playing more when I can.
We are trying to get 2 pugs going at the moment. Info is below
Col 77: Mumble 3, Ch 2 & 4
Col 160: Mumble 3, Ch 5 & 6
these things are always full instantly and then everyone says "noone uses esea pugs" wtf i wanna pug.
Join Illinois 330: Mumble 2, Ch 5 & 6.
I'll sit here til it happens
EDIT: Someone make an announcement for me
EDIT2: i guess people have shit ping to chicago now. woops
Needs to be a way to ban players who just join to troll.
Sorry broking using basher only isn't actually funny when you've been doing it multiple pugs in a row. You aren't being an epic troll just being a retard.

i know you can at least -karma which will eventually get him banned
not sure if there is any other way to report trolls tho
Doesn't CSGO have pug admins? These would be pretty decent if we could get rid of people who run sniper to mid every round and shit like that.
The .kick function may be used ONLY for the following issues personally witnessed by the moderator:
Blatant speedhacking
Repeated intentional teamflashing
Repeated communication in a language other than English
Repeated intentional blocking of teammates
Repeated use of knife or use key to reveal teammate's position
Unfortunately most of these don't apply to TF2, but definitely do let me know when someone tries to speedhack on client.
