I generally recommend the 660ti power edition from MSI, but if you're on a tight budget, you can get a 7850 for $139.99 currently (after $40 rebate)
HIS has always been quite good with their rebates.

And if you're in the market for RAM, good luck finding a better deal than this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460

John, would you recommend upgrading my 6870 to a 660ti, or should I wait for the 760ti (assuming Nvidia makes one)?

660ti power edition from MSI = 670/680 performance. Upgrade now, will be able to skip the 700 series entirely.

No.
There will be no power edition equivalent in the next series. Nvidia is pissed at MSI.

Ultrazyou know if the price on the 660ti will drop?
Of course it will, the question is when. Probably 2 months after the 700 series comes out.

The guy at the counter in TigerDirect looked at me weird when I asked if that were true, and recommended the Zotac one instead. Did I get told or is he wrong?

660ti performance falls off rapidly after 4xAA, unlike the 670 & up. Boss up until there tho.

He's probably retarded. The power edition is clocked higher than Nvidia allows vendors. MSI did it anyways.

As in massively overvolted.

The next batches of 660ti Power Edition would be on par with the other high end brands.

Yep, from what I hear Nvidia is extremely angry with MSI. There was an article on Ars about it.

I snagged a visiontek 7850 2gb for 149.99 with no rebate earlier today. Looks like they raised it again though. :( http://www.amazon.com/VisionTek-Radeon-Express-Graphics-900505/dp/B007KJ1URG. Bye bye 8800 gt!
