Sunday's episode of Top Gear is cancelled and the other 2 remaining episodes will not be aired either.

Thoughts? If it comes to the BBC sacking Clarkson Richard Hammon and James May will follow. They've said a few times that if 1 of them leaves the show they won't continue.

...didn't he get fired for punching a producer in the face?
Don't see where "politically correct assholes" come into that equation; Clarkson is in the wrong.

He didn't get fired because of this purely. He was on final warning after a list of controversies.

The show will fail without Clarkson. BBC are only hurting themselves considering the amount of viewers top gear consistently pulls in. Its the only TV show I actually watch and I doubt that they will get rid of Clarkson yet. If they do sack him it will be a lot of money lost.

I don't get why they did it, May, Hammond and Clarkson were like a perfect presenter trio, it made the show funny and entertaining, without Jeremy, it's not the same Top Gear, now it's just some crap with the name Top Gear

Sounds like a publicity stunt to me. Seems like it's working though so good job to them.

I can kind of see where a lot of complaints towards Top Gear come from (looking at the list of controversies) but they make fun of EVERYONE in that show, they treat every place with equality.
Kind of dumb really.

There's treating everyone equally in good fun, and then there's generalizing negative stigmas to whole populations, and truly being asshats. There's a place for humor, and there's the mode of thinking that any humor at all is at someone's expense, but for example the Mexico controversy shows pure distasteful, racist humor.

Probably the best thing to come out of this is an interview with James May on the issue.
When May was initially asked if Clarkson was innocent, he said: "Of being a knob? No."
He tried to get back into his garage, where he keeps his collection of motorbikes, but said: "I have managed to lock myself out, that's embarrassing," before going through the front door."
Oh cock.

There's a difference between actual racism and racist humor. One is actually treating a group wrong, the other is words. Nothing's wrong with racist humor, it can be fucking hilarious. Top Gear isn't actually racist, they're making jokes. Big difference.

I thought the BBC was a statutory company and made money (almost) exclusively from the TV license fees? Do they even run ads?

They get loads of cash from selling the show to other channels.

I agree, we need more car shows that specifically cater to women who identify as a wolf and are trapped in a human's body.

I think he was trying to say that the audience that watch the show is largely not part of the demographics which could be offended by the jokes not that the show has no value due to its target audience.
Either way it was a dumb statement.

Fortunately us white heterosexual men are exempt from the licence fee so it doesn't matter if there's fuck all for us to watch because it's all talent shows, soaps and cooking.
