can anyone tell me whats the difference of the plot between the books and the tv show?

I read all five books from the end of the last season to about a couple months ago, so ADWD is still fresh to me. From seeing what's going on with trailers and reading about this upcoming season, HBO is doing some major cutting of the books.

They are shortening a lot of storylines...
They are quickening a lot of storylines...
They are cutting some major plots out...
They are using different characters for certain story arcs...

It's gonna be hard to just see the show as the show, and the books as the books. But I've already yelled at my monitor about some of the changes....it's gonna be a long season.

Why not just wait for 1080p? imo the quality of the show is defenitly worth the wait

Yeah that's my biggest problem with the show so far. They could quite easily not shorten some storylines, still have them be interesting and not be running out of material. A more faithful adaptation would be just as watchable and wouldn't be trying to race ahead of the books because they have enough content to work with.

The show has stayed pretty faithful to the books so far. Despite what people like to say, no major changes have been made. This season there will be some pretty drastic differences, and I feel they are warranted.

The fourth and fifth books are, at least in my opinion, the driest of the series. They contain lots of filler and scheming, up until the end of the books where some major stuff finally begins to happen. You could say that about any of the other books, however at least there was some minor action between the beginning and ends. Just think about all the story-lines that were progressed through the third book compared to both the fourth and fifth. Dance and Feast's sort of story-telling, I feel, won't translate well to the TV without some snipping.

The producers have also said multiple times they want to finish this up in seven seasons. It's impossible to say now if that's going to happen or not, but if you're going to cut some content from the books, I'm glad it's going to be the fourth and fifth. To ensure the success of the show, you need to make things interesting, and honestly there's a lot of stuff in those books that I feel won't be interesting to the average viewer.

And now you have to wait for a month for next episodes. Gratz

Sad that we won't see Bran and Hodor this season, they gonna appear next season only. In my opinion only Tyrion's storyline is going to be the most interesting, this season.
