Did you get any insight into if Valve planning on developing any level of matchmaking / stats API?
The thing I love about dota2 and CSGO are the matchmaking API's that allow the community to create great analysis tools.

Will the matchmaking system use only official servers?
-If so, how will it work abroad? e.g., here in Brazil we get from 150ms to 400ms connecting to Valve servers.
-Otherwise, how should community servers be set up? We have few servers over here, and lots of them are currently trade servers or 24/7 Turbine 32-players fast-respawn servers.

GrooveNow that both ESEA and CEVO have dropped TF2 as a competitive esport, there are no more leagues/ladders with cash prizes for TF2. Can we expect Valve to sponsor any LAN tournaments?
ESEA hasn't dropped TF2 yet, or am I missing something?

Some questions I'd like to see answered (if NDA allows :P)
- Will Team Fortress 2 be ported to Source2? (and if so, before or after MM is introduced)
- Are the custom maps currently in the etf2l/ugc/esea seasons going to be added to the game/'custom' maps in MM?
- Are TF2Center/TF2Pickup/TF2Pug going to be obsolete or become the alternative for 'non ranked' play?
- Whitelists/maps/configs and server settings are going to be consistent with leagues/lans?
- What maps/gamemodes will have matchmaking and will old(er) maps be updated to support/work with competitive play?
- Is hitreg ever going to be fixed for melee weapons?
- Is Valve going to address any matchfixing issues if betting/saloon.tf reach CSGOlounge like proportions?
- How is MM going to be monetized, ticket system like Mann vs. Machine, skins/stickers, team cosmetics, ....?
- What about scripts and custom huds and an in-game P-REC in matchmaking?

The question that's mostly been on my mind: will this seek to take over the duties of leagues (etf2l/esea/ugc/etc) and websites (tf2center/tf2pickup/etc)?
I'm personally hoping that, instead of taking over those duties, it provides a place for newer players to experience competitive easily, without needing to know to which exact external websites to go. Then it also promotes websites such as tftv, tf2center and etf2l, so that they know where to go once they kind of get a feel for it. This way the already existing community-built services (and ESEA) would hopefully get a big boost in playerbase, rather than having their playerbase taken from them by Valve's own matchmaking.
Curious to hear other people's expectations for this, and hopefully it'll get answered in FT :>

I want to keep the other leagues around too because I can't help but fear that it will not be the competitive tf2 that we know and love. I'm scared there will either be no 6v6 or it will be sprinkled with bullshit like phlog pyros to mid or whatever horrors like that

Question: logs are an important part of comp tf and of other genres. Notably, the point system does not assist. Similarly, k/d doesn't work for many classes, whereas damage works for others, and some classes are positional or timing-based. Similarly, held, ubers, drops, and such are important. Furthermore, classes that focus some classes are generally more useful than other frags. What is valve going to do to focus, motivate, and orient their mm and scoreboard, and stats, so as to award good play instead of unbeneficial stat boosting. The last thing comp should be is frag fest to bump ranks.

30 minutes, 5 point difference or first to 5 points to win? 6s Game rules essentially.

This is pretty exciting, and I'm almost shocked that this is happening.
The main question I'd like answered is, "Why now?" What changed? This isn't the first time the community has asked for this, and this isn't the first time something like this has been alluded to happening.

I'm not 100% on this but from what I understand the most important thing if you're trying to rank up in CS:GO is whether you win or not. Topfragging and getting the most MVPs helps, but winning is the most important. If it works silimarly to that, it might discourage demos and pockets baiting their teams and eating spam all day in choke points

KhaleesiSo, what changed? Why now?
I think it might be Valve's answer to Overwatch or they were always interested to make comp tf2 official but they took their sweet time to plan and prepare and kept it a secret. Or just the need for more money, you know?

I think it's overwatch. While overwatch is quite a different game to tf2, they still share some similarities, especially in terms of 6's (having a 6v6 format most of all). Valve wants a competitive arena shooter to be able to compete with it, and tf2 is perfect. There's not as much risk as creating a new game, as there are already established leagues and a very vibrant community

I would like to let myself believe at least a little bit that it could also be because csgo and dota have taken off perhaps they have more time to explore the possibilities of creating another esport?

Will all weapons being allowed ? All classes allowed ? Spy allowed ? 4 spy in a Team allowed ?
Will anti-competitive bugs patched ? Seriously ?
Will our stats be distincts by classes or gamemode or simply not ? Will stats be points or more detailled (capt, def, headshots, backstabs, etc) ?
Will a free non-premium player be able to use competitive matchmaking (easy multi account to ♥chainkill♥ f2p) ?
Will Valve host the games OR custom server with custom maps will be allowed ?
Will lag compensation be activated ? (Is it competitive ?)
Will all the games count as sames on our stats ? Or will it depends on enemies or classes or game mode ?
Will it be always possible to join a game, or only when people with the same skills are on matchmaking too ?
Will be possible to play with friends ?
Will be possible to see our stats ? To reset it ? To see other players stats ? To see the best ones ? By classes ? By Gamemode ? Will I be able to see their bests/current matches ?
Will it be possible to follow a player (not friend) ? [If wan't learn how to play medic like a god without disturbing elites, could I see them play through the game ?]
Will we gain medals ? Hats ? Giants hats ? Sylver weapons ? Bloody weapons ? Halloween locked weapons skins ? Kill counters ?
Will you add some success ? (Taunt in competitive gameplay after a giant killstreak...)
Will game-end stats be more relevants (for other players) ? Will medic stats be more revelant ?
Will you add lobby and end-game lobby ? Could we save the game as Replay or Demo ?
Will the rules be the sames than FFA ? (game length, respawn time, objs) ?
Wich gamemode ? PLR :D ? HighTower in competitive lol; Wan't to see it
Sorry I'm a French who just know few english words, also a Spy who have tons of questions.
