If being competitive is in your nature try a sport that doesn't require an entire team like disc golf (my fav), tennis, table tennis, golf, etc.

I agree with this. Disc golf and tennis are two amazing sports. Disc golf is really relaxing if you have a nice course in your area. Luckily my local course is right in the middle of a PA State Park :)

If you're into commuters, coding can be nice way to spend your summer. I've been writing a Scheme interpreter in C recently, and I ended up learning a great deal about parsers, garbage collection, data structures, etc.
Depends alot on what you like to do.

If you can afford a decent DSLR camera, you should try photography. For me, photography has brought me to places I normally never would have visited and appreciate 'getting out' a lot more than I used to. If you really want to get into it and can afford it, get the Photoshop CC subscription for one year so that you can edit your work.
I'm moving back to Grand Rapids Michigan, I'm living with Hugo Claudin and will be shooting live shows in our flat/art gallery each week, and posting them on my youtube channel for music. I'm selling the bands the tapes, one of the many things I'm doing to pay rent. I'm also going to be helping him out with projects he works on and get involved in the community. Here are some photos:

ride your bike somewhere new, travel and take plenty of photos, go fishing with your father figure or close friend, cook on the grill often, go camping with some friends, build something out of wood (i just made a bench with my gf this weekend really ez and cost me nothing), dig a hole and have a bonfire in it, idk man just go outside and do things that you think are cool.
work is important but i didnt mention that because hopefully you are still looking for fun activities to do during your free time even if you get a job. and seriously fuck anything to do with your computer.

-jog

-work towards at least 1 goal (get good at drawing, make new friends, that kind of thing)
-roadtrip with friends spontaneously (a bit expensive but the most fun you'll ever have)
-join a thing that you haven't been a part of before (local magic the gathering group, school camps/ counselling school camps, other clubs, etc)
-brush your teeth more than you would during the not-summer (and enjoy beautiful shininess)
-cook all your meals from scratch, it tastes better and is healthier (l8r added sugars)
-if you have grandparents/ other older family nearby do their yard work and make their week
do as much stuff as you can fit in a day. never EVER have an excuse to be bored for the rest of the summer, starting now.

I set out to prank each of my friends last summer
it's something fun to do and you get to lose friends
it's something fun to do and you get to lose friends
Meet up a lot w/ friends, because its really easy to lose touch with your friends with such a large gap of time that you could easily decide to devote towards turtling at home. I've tried shutting myself in before and I end up missing friends from school and just people in general about a month into summer. Oh yeah its also a good time to learn something new that you've been looking forward to doing, since there is so much time and leeway to either get into it or drop it and try something else.
Playing for my local rugby club. Anyone else play?
Every summer I take a trip out to west Virginia and go white water rafting. Try to go when there's a storm a day or two before. You'll see some 10 foot waves then. Hella fun time.
Pankeymanyttriumget a jobBeen trying for over 2 and a half years, only managed to make it to exactly 1 interview last year. Would be awesome if I could work, but that's easier said than done.
one way you might be able to land more jobs is to not tell them that you watch anime

I'm gonna be working out and playing trombone for marching band. Although I should probably get a job. I've put it off for too long. Maybe get back into a sport as well.
I like doing spontaneous day trips with my buddies, usually just up to SF or to Santa Cruz to explore and eat food. We usually look up a bunch of places we haven't been to before and hit up a bunch of them in one day. I also work during the summer since I can usually get a good amount of hours.
Other stuff:
-learn to cook and grill
-go walking in the woods/nature trails/hiking
