PankeymanIs there even a starters guide or basic thing for comp?

I think playcomp.tf is supposed to have all that stuff. It also links to the major competitive leagues as well as tf.tv, which is nice. There's been a ton of different starters guides made by different individuals, but it seems like there's never been any single GO-TO guide. There's been a couple competitive wikis though... but I question how well they are/were managed. Comp.tf comes to mind immediately, but at the moment I can't seem to access the webpage? There's also the competitive section of the official TF2 wiki, but it's not really advertised much and you have to deliberately look for it to even reach it.

All in all, resources for new players just don't seem easily accessible without deliberate attempts to look for them. Putting them out there next to where new players are most likely to look would be ideal and combining them into a central location would be most convenient for them, I feel. /r/tf2 has something like that with the sidebar, but I wonder how well that's working out.

i agree with what other people said, playcomp.tf has a lot of room to grow and become the go to link for whatever a newbie needs to see. Even that thread on consolidating newbie resources is quite hidden within the forums and i doubt new players have the patience to really sift through the mess to find some good guides. I think playcomp.tf should honestly just be less of "here are some links" but rather "if you're new, everything you need is here" so include guides to getting a team / pugging / practicing dm etc for each region.

to be completely honest if the playcomp.tf guy has disappeared i wouldn't mind making a site like that so there isn't so much bullshit edit: many twist and turns a new player has to make to find what they need.

You don't need a single international league, or even a single international website to share the collective resources of the various communities.

If you want to leverage the size of the NA and EU scenes to help grow the smaller ones than find a way to give them access to our casters and streamers. Lets get them coverage, not just so we know more about them, but so they have a bit more local hype to entice new players into the scene. We don't need an international league or even an international forum for that. We just need a more international pool of casting talent and a better means of sharing knowledge, programs, and resources between casting groups around the world. Package our production tools, help interested players/members from the smaller leagues learn how to use them.

The point is there are far easier ways to grow the smaller leagues around the world than forcing them under one big, international, umbrella.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. I think this was already evident with recent esea developments

i fuckin implore any idiot to give me one reason why we should "kill off esea"

i dont understand why people think its so easy to just make a tf2 league that ppl will WANT to play

esea is and forever will be the best thing to ever happen to tf2 and people who think otherwise need not reply because ur incorrect

i beg u to think before u post a thread mentioning anything about making/consolidating tf2 leagues

At least i don't have to pay more than 100$ a year to play in a league with admins that take days to respond and don't seem to care.

jermangi fuckin implore any idiot to give me one reason why we should "kill off esea"

It isn't a question of us "killing off esea" it is a question of them killing us off. I for one am getting a little sick of being cuckolded by CS:GO.

The only thing that's going to help the Australian and Asian leagues is for people in Australia and Asia to actually be exposed to their existence. Really only the players within those scenes are going to responsible for spreading the word. If you want people to know about your league, don't just sit around thinking someone else is going to magically tell everyone about it. Even if you just put some something in your name like ozfortress.com you're doing your part.
