YouTube Gaming will let streamers enable DVR so viewers can rewind live broadcasts, and a new low latency streaming option will let streamers "really interact with [their] fans while gaming."
I guess we will have to see if you're allowed to stream music and how Youtube handles VOD saving. I like the idea though, at the very least it will make browsing gaming related content better.

If it's anything like their current livestreaming, I'm pretty sure you are not allowed.
I like Google, but I've been really disappointed with a lot of the products they've pushed out in the last year so I have low expectations of this.

Twitch acknowledged them, lol.

pretty funny and playful jab at youtube. if they go all out with this and do it properly google/youtube has way more resources than amazon/twitch and could easily dethrone twitch from its monopoly. twitch doesn't really have competition at the moment and has no reason to improve its service. not much bad can come from this aside from a split in the community. on a side note lately i havent been able to watch any twitch streams without freezes/buffering and its not a lack of bandwidth, is this just me?

Same thing happens for me, even though the streams I watch only use about 5% of my total downstream bandwidth. Its definitely an infrastructure issue on Twitch's side.

so who is going to win the TF2 crowd over...
youtube gaming, twitch.tv, hitbox.tv, weav.tv or plays.tv ?

honestly all of those are bad except for twitch, lets hope yt gaming is decent so twitch improves themselves out of fear of loosing part of their market share

plays isn't a competitor at all imo, just another platform to release short videos/highlights that aren't youtube worthy
I really hope this gets big, but I also kinda like the way that currently live streams are separate from post-produced content.

youtube most likely ending up eating twitch for breakfast

This. Honestly Hitbox is the only one of those with any sort of legitimacy in terms of 1. Viewer base and 2. Resources, and well.. Remember when Twitch became not okay with music? And we all jumped ship to Hitbox? Yeah

Everything aside this can only mean great things for the growth of esports
I think this is really going to kick twitch in the balls, especially in terms of quality of service, YouTube is massive and would take a large portion of viewers away if some big tournaments went over their and started streaming live through YouTube.
One of the big things twitch has to its advantage is the community/twitch chat, but I really hope this makes twitch actually come out with a decent html video player.
It would also be really interesting to see how YouTube handle ad revenue or any other monetary tools for streamers, but I really hope this is a way to bring high quality streams to the mix, whereas I like watching twitch streamers some do put little to no effort and just take their position for granted without actually providing gaming content.
The music thing as well is kinda annoying but I think for quite a few decent and interactive streamers it won't be a problem, and if you like playing music it's pretty easy to play music without it broadcasting out to everyone anyway.

Hopefully this will push twitch to redesign their shitty vods and overall bad video player (in comparison to the current yt's, which should be the standard at this point)
I already have insane throttling problems with watching twitch streams with Verizon, but actually streaming works fine. I want to see how this handles for my connection because I highly doubt that Verizon is gonna throttle the friendly Google botnet.
That and, you know, having a platform that doesn't endorse EPIC MENEMAY STREAM CULTURE :DDDD LE DONGERCAN XDDD would be cool too.

I wonder if you have to be a partner to get quality options. In Australia it's been a chicken and egg problem, you need to support both high quality (so it doesn't look like ass so people just use the STV) and low quality (so people with bad connections can watch) otherwise you don't get viewer numbers. But you need viewer numbers to get quality options.
id imagine streamers on yt gaming would also rake in loads more cash from ads than on twitch. google has such a behemoth advantage over twitch in that aspect. twitch has been around for years and their ad system still blows. I am an english speaking male and I get french shampoo ads half the time. (i dont live in quebec or an area with a high bilingual population)

If you've ever seen a stream on YT, it's just as bad as twitch chat. Not much gain in that respect.
Additionally, unless they upgrade their streaming service, YT is about 3 seconds behind twitch from my experience.

Friendly reminder that this is Google, who have more than twice the assets, financially, that Amazon has.

But Youtube wont have all the emotes. Isn't that what matters here? Kappa.
If people like pewdiepie and markiplier start to stream it'll take off really quickly as long as it isn't terrible. Competition is always a good thing though, I wonder how twitch will react.

You can now, they recently released a new Twitch app which has vod functionality as well. It's much better than the previous app.
