I'd really like to compare some mechanics now to how they were before the gun mettle update. Does anyone know how/where I can get/play an older version of TF2? Preferably a 2015 version post sticky nerf.
Not on topic but I'd be really interested in the comparison. A lot of splash related stuff still feels off in terms of velocity, especially rocketsurfs seem to be stronger.
SFM has an old ass version of TF2 inside
the only relevant thing it won't have pertaining to demo stickies are the rampup nerf

From what I've read the version is from 2012-2013, so take that as you will
If you go to the steam Games Library and right-click on TF2, click on Properties, and go to the BETAS tab, there's "prerelease - Latest available build" and "Previous - Previous build". Not sure how far back prerelease goes or how much they'll help you, but I think those are your best bets besides emailing Valve or playing console lol. GL
E: there was also that old post about 'open source tf2' that people somehow 'acquired' - you could look into that I guess

Another option - since you probably just want a clean install of TF2 from ye' olden times, you could look on the Pirate bay - I imagine there are cracked versions on there from before the F2p update that may still have seeds. Or you could try running an xbox emulator ;) for that even more classic feel lol.

we got the patch that gave demo 4 pipes instead of 6 and the option to turn off crits and damage spread, but that's about it.

Search your hard drives for backups, you might have the game saved somewhere else. I managed to find one from before the last patch but obviously I can't upload it
Assuming kaidus can't get what he is looking for, would it be possible for you you to do the tests deetr? I'd assume they were things like 1. Time how long it takes to full charge a sticky. 2. Determine how far an uncharged sticky fires. 3. determine how far a full charged sticky fires. 4. Using bots determine splash radius relative to current stickies both on the ground and in the air.
I think that would cover everything that people have been saying feel different since the patch.

There was the 2007 version of tf2 with servers hosted by facepunchers briefly but I think they abandoned it for tf2 classic.

Dunno if it still works, sorry if you've already tried.

TF2 is appId 440, depot id 441, but you'll have to find out the specific version numbers yourself. Here's a starter: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11Q6eb-xSSbVAojnRJM7-4XrGXHgj61pbqgXBvOJZXBE/pub?output=html
Version 0 will get you the first public build.

lol no it's like 2008
teleporters and dispensers don't have levels, you can't pick up buildings, and airblast, while implemented, costs 50 ammo
pre engie update
also my laptop hasn't yet been updated to gun mettle, should I disable the network and try to back it up?
