It started today, i was decided to turn on my tf2 and play while watching evo, and when i turned on the game some of my key binds were unbinded, by binds i mean like wasd and the ones you use to attack, so i pressed use default keys because i use most of the defaut binds but when i tested it by turning my game off and on again, they we unbinded again, and my resolution was changed, i pressed use default again and chaged the resolution back and test again, my resolution stayed but the keys were screwed up again. i have no idea what to do and i really dont want to have to use the "use default keys" button every time i want to play the game, pls help.
Forgot to metion it changed my weapon fov to 70 for some reason

you can add -autoconfig to your launch options to get the default binds every time you launch although that isn't really a permanent solution

deetryou can add -autoconfig to your launch options to get the default binds every time you launch although that isn't really a permanent solution

well the thing about that is i don't use all of the defaut binds and when you press the use default button it also takes away any keys you have binded that arent even used in the default binds and i have some binds that i need

does your autoexec not work at all? You could try adding some echo commands to your autoexec and see if it works.

No it works, i use Comanglia's config and i says it is execing it when i open the console but i don't have my binds in my it. but i still want to find out what this problem is and a cause not just solve it if possible.

Check your config.cfg, sometimes it gets screwed up and doesn't update according to the changes you made ingame
You'll have to change it manually in notepad if that's the case

why would you ever bind something with autoexec

config.cfg exists and you guys need to learn to use it

Is there a difference between using config.cfg and autoexec? I have different binds in different files then exec them all from autoexec and my class cfgs. Is there a reason to move all my stuff to just config.cfg besides it just being cleaner looking?

config.cfg is changed by the game, so it's susceptible to you making changes in game. I use a seperate binds.cfg that is in turn executed by my autoexec simply because my config has gotten extensive at this point. It also means it won't change unless I change it myself. I'd even go so far as to recommend not messing with config. Cfg because it has a lot of stuff most people shouldn't touch.

You can modify config.cfg by changing what keys correspond to what and the values of the commands listed, but you can't add or delete parts.

config.cfg is a configuration file created by the engine, you can't just toss stuff in it and expect it to work, that's why we have autoexec.cfg, it's like a younger brother of userconfig.cfg from GoldSrc, different name, does the same

the intention is that config.cfg contains the current modified value separate from the default, so if you change it it doesn't keep changing itself back every time.

So many people put binds into autoexec and try to change them in the console, and then bitch when it resets them whenever they restart.

Either use a binds.cfg or don't put them in autoexec. Organize them and don't be retarded about it. Thing is, people that use binds.cfg are already intelligent enough to know what autoexec actually does. So many people don't, so please just recommend people change binds in console.

Autoexec exists for a reason, especially for graphics settings that TF2 doesn't like you altering, but it isn't necessary for binds.

Elepimpi dont have a config.cfg

Welcome to TF2! The only way this could happen is if you never launched the game before.

I will bet you have aliases in some form on your exec list and it is remapping buttons. These premade configs and uploaded configs always have some aliases thrown in for extra clarity. Just delete the aliases to your buttons and make sure everything your autoexec starts is something you want to actually use (otherwise FPS will suffer)

you create another cfg that contains your binds and you exec that cfg through your autoexec w/ exec yourbinds. Then you can use that yourbinds file for your binds and fill it up with whatever you want your keyboard to do 4 u. Brief description 4 you but there are tons of guides to look @

He's probably looking for his config.cfg in his tf/custom/[foldername]/cfg instead of tf/cfg folder.

Dump your autoexec and other cfg files in pastebin and link them here.
It will be a lot easier to help if you give us a chance to look at the configs so we can try to spot anything that's not right.
