Usually the trick is that they try to get you dl a fake mumble client that's actually a virus not just get your ip

please, this phishing technique is probably almost a year old by now, stop making PSAs about something that everyone is already aware of/at least search first

There are enough people willing to play on 6es teams that its profitable to make spambots for it?
Holy shit we've made it boys.

connecting to a mumble server shouldn't cause any problems unless there's a serious mumble exploit no one knows about yet
Them having your IP address isn't really that useful

Like deetr said already, the point is to make you download a fake mumble client. This has a trojan inside that allows them to control your PC and steal your steam items.

They just straight up gave him the mumble info, deetr is implying that it's weird that they AREN'T asking him to DL a fake mumble client and instead are just probably trying to get his IP.

Usually they give you an IP that doesn't work, then tell you you need an older version of Mumble and link you a fake one. Presumably they planned to do this but Tino found out it was a scam first so they removed him. The fun part about this is that it means a person is likely actually sending messages and not just a spambot, so you could probably fuck with them a bit if they add you

"I cocked up, long story short I got asked to join a teamspeak server to play csgo, the teamspeak server requested I download a portal ts sound pack plugin (from the offical site) to connect. I did this and within about 30 seconds my steam inventory and google account had been taken. I have run multiple scans to find the plugin/keylogger/malware (or whatever it is called) but have found nothing. Any help in removing this pest would be appreciated."
"Although im hoping for help this is also a warning to rookies like myself, Iv never been tricked in such a way, the usual methods are much more obvious.
Edit: I do have the download link to the file if anyone in the know is interested in getting there hands on it to sort out how to fix it but I obviously didn't want to share it publicly."
