ofc the truth is that when youve been the top team in NA and the world for a full year (largely without trying for the past 6 months), you stop caring. when you don't have to scrim more than match nights to win the past 2 esea seasons, you get complacent and playing becomes a chore. you miss a tournament here, a deadline here, it stops mattering
lan being gone is icing on the cake.
not an excuse, it was really shitty of froyo to act the way they did. but it is pretty clear why theyve become so goddamn flaky

AlkalineDavidTheWinGeknaiirim waiting for b4nny's wall of text to justify everything and then make everyone look like a jackass
Thing is, b4nny was awake and available to play even after streaming until 2am. I don't blame b4nny at all aside from not looking at a roster sooner.
Yeah, almost certainly wasn't b4nny's fault. He probably told his team, but then everyone just peaced or didn't show up. That's happened plenty of times before with Froyo (often screwing other gamers over in the process, like here), and it'll happen again. Pretty sad tbh
And don't even get me started about trying to talk to people on Froyo when writing articles. It took two months just for b4nny to accept my friend request on Steam, for gods sake.
Yeah man you hit the nail on the head. SURELY that was what happened. The only thing that's worse than sensationalized titles are people like you who pretend they know exactly what's happening. Also, here's what you want to do if you want to contact me for something regarding an interview. You send me a PM through absolutely any service available (tftv, twitch, Twitter), tell me why you're adding me, then you send me an invite. Don't send an invite to one person and then get upset when they don't accept the request. You're purposely limiting the things you can do to achieve success in order to complain about it later. Getawhale added me on steam for a similar reason, noticed I wasn't accepting (because I don't look at them), and told me to accept it on Twitch. It's actually that easy.

Ohh and not to mention this tournament was backed by Zowie (one of the few companies that cares about our scene) and I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't be too happy if the arguably most famous and most marketable team in the whole tournament dropped without any warning on the day of the tournament.
At least tomahawk is a very approachable person and I think we'll be all good regarding them but it's still highly unprofessional what happened today.

Excuse me for being clueless, but what happened? I missed something pretty important it seems
honestly it's very likely that there's a lot of things that no one outside of froyo knows about why they couldn't set up a mix team out of invite pug players at the last minute, so until there's no statement from anyone on the team just flat-out claming that they don't care is a huge stretch imo
I will say that I agree that letting people know at the last minute is pretty lame though

three froyo members were playing invite pugs last night...there is just no excuse !
u mean 2/6? or 1/3? team = 6 players
only 2 were ready hence 2/6 or 1/3

I think trying to use sponsors as ammo against a team isn't quite fair. Speaking as the owner of Sweetstakes.tf, I'm not quite so ready to just lambast Froyotech. Shit happens.

imo it's pretty clear from b4nny's tweet.
It was time to start the tournament, and everyone else on froyo was either offline or on snooze. including serv0 and lansky. you cant grab 5 mercs at noon for an all day tourney, and it wouldnt have been froyo at that point anyway
they flaked. end of story unless someone from froyo says otherwise. i would love to be wrong and it was all a misunderstanding. but it doesnt look that way to me. :/

It's completely fair for you to say that we don't know what's going on and to tell this one person that he should have obviously given some sort of notice of why he was adding a player who probably gets 10+ requests per day. However I still think that the community should be kept up to date on what is going on with the best and most marketable team in the world when they are missing a big sponsored tournament. When a team simply doesn't show up without notice before the day of and the team leader is posting on Twitter that even he doesn't know where his teammates are, the community has a right to be concerned about whether that team is a good representation of the community and to question that team's caring about the community.

dollarlayerNot going to mention names, but I asked someone on Fryo the other day if they were looking forward to some 150 Euro ping gaming. They basically said they didn't even really know when it was, and said they are probably scheduled to work that day so they might not make it. This was a week ago. I guess that there was definitely a lack of communication between the members of fryo as to the specific details of when it was actually happening.
on his stream, banny also said that he didn't know when the asked to be part of it..... why waste people's time and effort in the first place.... I hope they get rolled at lan

But you're a single person who's already heavily invested in tf2 across all your different projects. Zowie is a gaming hardware manufacturer who supports various competitive scenes. And the exact kind of company we should strive to have a good relation with.
You might not care, a marketing department of a normal company would.

Traditionally Froyo does not run a team that has significant substitutions on it regardless of the event, every position or roster change they make is carefully calculated to provide the best possible combination on the field.
Running a mix team under the Froyotech branding does them no favors, could they possibly win the whole tournament? Sure, but why risk dropping matches on what amounts to a low-priority event with little bearing on the world scene?
Could they have communicated with tournament organizers better? Probably, as it would have been better to have had time to find another team to sub in. But that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Beaters trailer got 20k views in a day (that's quadruple what his average videos get in their lifetime). While that's not MASSIVE, it's a pretty substantial difference.

Add someone else. You're very free to add anyone from the team. The circle jerk surrounding this thread might make you content but I can assure you if I needed to get an interview from a team, I wouldn't add one person and sit like a hen on its egg for multiple weeks. You just have bad management skills.
