For those of you who are at all interested in mechanical keyboards but aren't willing to pay the price, here's a good deal. Roughly $40 for a fullsize board with MX blues.

I haven't used one so I can't attest to the build quality. Monoprice's stuff is usually pretty decent but rarely spectacular.

what are the differences/advantages of a mechanical keyboard compared to a regular one?
wtf -frags for asking a question

Comfort and they last longer (if you don't get a shit tier one).
Also, stop caring about the frags. Doesn't do anything.

you originally said you were too lazy to google it. pretty sure that is why you got -fragged.

I'd say the biggest advantage is that you can actuate the switches easier than you can actuate rubber domes. The travel distance is typically shorter with a mechanical than a membrane keyboard. This just means you don't have to push the keys down as far to make them work, which translates into less finger fatigue.
Pros
Shorter travel distance
Travel distance and force required are very repeatable
Keys are more stable (try pushing the left corner of a spacebar on a membrane keyboard--many times it'll stick or fail to register)
Keycaps are typically much higher quality and less prone to degradation
Longer life expectancy
Cons
Typically substantially louder than membrane keyboards
Cost
Limited functionality (not many macros/other 'extra' features typically)
I'm sure more can be added to these lists, but this is just what comes to mind immediately.

Probably true, but I have a board of MX Blacks and it takes a bit more force to get a keypress to register than on a standard membrane board. I suppose it's for goofs like me who mis-press keys a lot. I've typed papers for school on this thing and I'm surprised I haven't bruised my fingers yet.

I always get shit for my mechanical keyboard in voice because it's so loud so have that in mind when buying one.

Are there any entry level tenkeyless ones with browns or reds?
I was thinking of getting a Leopold, but the shipping to Canada is something stupid like $50.

The deal is very good for a mechanical keyboard. Though, it's not all mechanical keyboards that are good for gaming. I was reading the reviews and 2 guys are reporting that the keyboard is not supporting n-key rollover. One guy is even reporting that only 3 keys can be pressed simultaneously on that keyboard. If that's the case I don't think the keyboard cuts it for TF2, otherwise it's probably an good one for typing.

Nice catch, cinq. If indeed it is limited to 3-key rollover, it would be pretty terrible for gaming.

NKRO isn't really necessary, but limited to 3 keys at same time is lame for a mech keyboard.

Also, blue switches are really only good for typing...it's recommended that you stay away from them for gaming.

Blue switches are perfectly fine for gaming. Lots of people prefer them over blacks/reds/browns.

You're an idiot. I know plenty of people that prefer blues for gaming. It's called personal preference.
