Any one knows how you can disable birthday mode?
I'm trying to record a smooth and I tried tf_birthday 0 and locking the cvar as alias tf_birthday "" before playing the demo and it's not working I still get silly gibs and all that.

Will birthday mode still be on by next weekend? It really annoyed me having it forced on on casts last year.

this is so annoying, literally the last smooth I need for the i55 teaser video. And they force the fkin birthday mode. Can't get rid of it. At least let me turn it off in sv_pure 0

Ok this turns out to be more work than I thought, and I don't have time to do it right now since I'm leaving for a short holiday this evening and I still have to do some irl stuff.
So here are the basics, and there are three possibilities in my eyes.
1. Completely replace the particles with the normal gibs ones as a custom file/vpk for recording only
2. Replace the the confetti and balloon files with "" and the funny gibs with the normal gibs in the file that defines which particles they should use
3. Record it in an old version of tf2, again only for recording and it might be a lot of work
However I don't know where to start so digging through the entire tf2_misc_dir.vpk turns out to be more time consuming than I thought, so maybe someone more experienced or someone with more time on their hands can try to find the file that defines what gibs vtx they should use (if it's even possible)
Also all the gibs are located in models/players/gibs in the tf2_misc_dir.vpk
Sorry this post is a mess I'm gonna go now

yes, I actually searched for that cvar and found an old post of mine with the exact same problem. rip...
I just went ahead and used an old recording of the smooth I wanted with some cuts so I was able to improve it a bit.

Bumping to confirm that disabling your internet connection, restarting steam in offline mode and changing the windows date works.
It should print this in the console:
Failed to fetch network config from CDN. Using local network config, which might be out of date.
Check your Internet connection, and make sure your browser can access the following URL:
