Ways to get onto IRC

Quite a number of people have expressed to me that they have no idea how to get onto and use IRC. Cinq blessed us with atf2.org but after it went down people no longer had their easy "automatic" way to get into the scrim channel and so IRC use has been on the decline and atf2.org's absence is a big part of that. Now people are trying to pre-schedule all of their scrims for the night which carries a huge risk of significantly screwing over your evening of scrims as well as everyone else's. All it takes is one team somewhere in this web being late or some 5-0 rolls and everything falls apart. You either risk sitting around waiting for up to 30 minutes or you end up leaving a scrim part-way through just to join another one that you planned (this is frustrating and dumb for all parties). That is why I personally try to only schedule our very first scrim of the night and then go to IRC. Anyway, until we have a better solution (currently in the works, but no eta) please use IRC...

There's dozens of different ways to get on IRC so I'd like people to tell/show here how they do it. The season's going to start soon and it'd be nice to rejuvenate the scrim finder channel with teams of all skill levels.

My very traditional way of doing it:
1) Open mIRC program. Set up your name (and other options if you'd like). This can be found in File/Options.
2) In the very back window, at the bottom of it, type the following: /server irc.geeksirc.net , and give it a few seconds to connect.
3) Then in the bottom of that window type /join #tf2scrim.

This should now open the channel and you should see other users listed on the right. Watch for other users posting messages and click on their names to message them and propose scrims. Or you can type in the main chat and propose one yourself and people will message you. Type something like this: 6s mid open y.ours process. Hitting the up/down arrow keys will cycle your previously sent messages for easy repeats (but you should generally not spam too hard).

I personally use version 6.0

The video didn't need to be this long. Oh well, I talk a lot. Also sorry about the sub-par quality.

Thanks in advance
